It is time to rethink how people pay for college. If you want to go to college you apply for a government loan to pay the college . Here's the kicker depending on your major it will decide on your size of the long for instance the government sets the rates not the college engineers , scientists doctors every major is regulated if you complete the course and obtain work in your field and you pay on the loan with out missing a payment for 5 years then 50% of the loan is forgiven. But any and all bullshit liberal art majors would be required to obtain funding from private lenders. No more funding anachists, communists with tax payer money. Second the federal Government would dictate the said courses not the colleges or the professors and this would all be accomplished via the Board of Education.

How about we get rid of the government involvement in loans altogether and let banks do this instead. If the government controls student loans colleges will just continue raising tuition costs because you can't get out of student loan debt even if you declare bankruptcy. That means schools are almost guaranteed their money so they can just continue to raise prices. Put banks at risk some by making the loans about to be defaulted on and then you end up with more incentive for reasonable prices and denying some loans.

Updoots x100. Education at all levels suffers proportional to government involvement.

You do this, but the loan interest is based on graduation/payback ratio.

As someone who teaches physics and engineering, I'm fine with this. The arts and humanities are a cess pool of neo-Marxism and intersectionality.

As someone who teaches history and many of the associated subjects, this view became outdated sometime between 5 and 10 years ago.

The humanities are essential to understanding who we are and where we have been. So much so that even MIT has a history program. The last major STEM push in education was intertwined with the No Child Left Behind objectives and standards movement. That period devalued history, geography, writing, long-term projects, and divergent, critical thinking. Ethics, philosophy, current events, geography, some years of American History, Art History, Western Civilization classes have all been minimized or eliminated in my school. Tell me this has no bearing on the mobs of people destroying our heritage.

As for the cesspool of Marxism and intersectionality, have you looked at Facebook, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, or any other major tech/science firm? No? Look again. If that is too far removed from the classroom, check out the new front line in science and math teachers hitting the high schools in the last 5 years or so... they're propagating this as much as any English teacher with crit lit theory.

So, yeah, humanities were largely minimized in favor of chasing the STEM dragon to make our students more globally competitive. And here we are with the H-1B program to drive down costs when we are graduating engineering and science students who are either under- or unemployed.

Government shouldn't be in the business of funding any particular major or degree. A degree's value should be determined by an unfettered market, not some timely academics in bureaucracy.

Best idea I've heard all day.

If you want to go to college, get a job, earn some money and pay for it, like people do with everything else.

The college debt is a bubble, it's going to cause a financial crisis sooner or later

No FAFSA and especially no student loans. Watch college attendance drop for cheaper options. It will make them rethink their own policies and prices.

Not another dollar to education until the commies are weeded out. Enough of the indoctrination.

This can be accomplished by waiving the provisions that forbid students to discharge student loan debt. Federal government should stop loans and return that to the private sector

This is a push towards socialism.

We should instead just put loans back to the way they were except for majors that would use bankruptcy to get around paying them - like doctors and lawyers.

But normal colleges should not get loans that you can never default on. Horrible bill. Horrible affect.

Better yet, no government subsidation at all.

All colleges, all public broadcasting, all grants, all tax exemptions to foundations, every form of subsidy to every form of the left.

Also issue findings at a rate of 1000 per day that so and so is a communist front organization and therefore enjoys none of the privileges or immunities of legal entities of any kind in the United States, under the communist control act of 1954.

Destroy the left. Legally, but root and branch.

Yes, I think its time. I think we should only provide to STEM. No more. If you want to get a degree in rehab counseling, basketweaving, or womens transgender studies, you can pay for that. Or better yet, let the gates or soros foundation pay for your schooling. The American taxpayer shouldn't.

That for sure go to school on our dime to earn a bullshit degree. So you can cry later that it is not fair you have to pay it back because there ant no work for your Dick sucking degree.

It might as well be under government control since it’s tax payers that pay for it anyways. But I’m pretty sure that was Obama’s plan. Just like healthcare the plan is it was fo it eventually to collapse and go under government control. Then we are like Step 3 or 4 of turning into Venezuela.
