I've met several such people, who were coddled by parents who were well intentioned. These children never learned to fend for themselves, overcome their illnesses, and cope with the real world. While the rest of us were learning that everyone has shit that they deal with and they find a way to function, they were learning that dealing with shit is hard and why do that when the government will do it for them.
