I'm waiting on it for that reason, to see where this goes - I went to sign up, but when it gave me no option except my private cell phone number to verify, I stopped.
Same. Tried once. Saw phone number requirement and said no way. Then someone on here said the phone number wasn't required. So tried again. Nope, phone number required. Guess that person got an account before it was required. There is zero chance I give them a number they can sell to some spammer.
Same thing, did the sign up and it forced me to input a phone number. Sure I could go through even more steps to get a fake one but not that interested in Parler to bother.
I didn't even like that you are forced to sign up to even view the site in the first place, the phone number was the final straw. Just creepy and intrusive, I'll see which way they go, if it is for more openness then I'll sign up but looks like they are even more closed than Twitter.
good Lord way too many people here seem to be completely unaware that you don't actually have to use your own personal legitimate number... Takes less than 30 seconds to get a workable one to use for that

On the phone number page, on the top right there is a small link that says skip step

Just give a google voice number.
You can't. Some people said it worked for them in the past. But they SHUT THAT DOWN. It will no longer send sign up codes to GV numbers.
Well I did it. I actually use a GV number as my Business phone.
