If you do a very careful reading of the story of Sodom and Gemorrah (I mean with some commentaries) you'll see that one of the reasons the men of Sodom got angry with Lot and surrounded his house was that they overheard his conversation with the angels. I.E. Lot was giving up the dirt on everybody in the city.
And one of the things the men of Sodom shouted was about Lot (or the angels -- or both) judging them. They were angry --- REALLY angry ... that Lot spoke against their sins, and that's why they were motivated to rape and murder the angels and Lot himself.
They HATE being judged. So they made special names for their own evils --- the evil of you judging them.
What else is homophobia? Having an opinion that isn't fully flattering.
