As someone with multiple non-STEM degrees from more than one institution, I whole-heartedly support any movement in the direction of de-emphasizing “college” and “college for all.” There could easily be multiple pathways to success in my field, but everyone’s so bent on “college” being the only legitimate one. I had to put up with so many student-colleagues at every level who were more passionate about the protest-of-the-week or “I stand with ____” profile pic frames than their own studies. Now, despite having “gotten muh degree!” they are bitter living back at home with their parents or 3 roommates in their late 30’s because they flamed out or couldn’t get hired due to NO SKILLS. Sucks to suck, learn an actual skill with some demand for it!
