The most requested feature since our initial release six months ago has been additional forums for different topics: guns, gaming, sports, and so on.
While we set out to provide a fallback forum exclusively for /r/The_Donald, it quickly became obvious that we are in a unique spot, with a great opportunity to provide a truly free and open platform for content that is no longer welcome on Reddit - or anywhere else on the internet.
Today, we took the first step by opening OmegaCanada.win, which is /r/MetaCanada's official new forum.
In the coming weeks and months, we'll be onboarding a variety of communities that no longer believe they have a place on their current platforms. Eventually, we'll facilitate the creation of brand new communities.
Your .win login will work for all sites in the Win network.
To address the potential concerns: we host all Win affiliated sites, your data is not going to any third parties. We don't store personal information, all passwords and email addresses are hashed.
Finally, we know that some of you have been missing the update threads. The lack of threads has in large part been due to the fact that our development efforts have been focused on new communities.
Every update that we make is posted at communities.win in great detail.
Important updates will still be posted here, but typically, they'll be over there.

Is this really happening!? Are we about to set the bar for how free open communication and discourse happen on the internet? All I can say as someone who was there with The Donald on Reddit, it’s nice that we are doing the right thing and making something that others can flock to that have been silenced.

Might have each Mods's Mod-Actions be kept as an examinable history .. a bit like the prior versions of entries at Wikipedia .. but tracked / sorted by Mod ID (not thousands of things someone would have to track down).
Retaining an automatic record (by Mod ID) of the original pre-Modded version of anything they modify, and how the modding changed it, would quickly show any bad actors.
Any Mod being ousted should be a publicly transparent process, but somehow possibly not "a public vote" in case lefties figure out how to toss righteous Mods with enormous bot farms.

No one is pretending otherwise, every libertarian alternative to reddit turned into a haven for Nazi trolls. There's a reason we've been more successful than all the alternatives, it's our moderation.
The main thing determining whether we are better than reddit isn't what political content we allow. It will be the transparency about what we allow. The most morally disgusting thing about reddit and other social media sites is that instead of saying what content they allow, they selectively enforce incredibly vague rules. You get banned for being pro trump but they never have the balls or the transparency to say it. Instead they make shit up like t_d supporting violence against police.
I think enforcement of vague rules is inevitable if you want to create a good user experience. Say we get Books.win and it gets overrun early on with Patrick O'Brian fans. Every other post is about Captain Jack Aubrey. People who want to talk about Faulkner or Hemingway or Dan Brown get downvoted to hell, and their posts get buried. In the interests of trying to grow that site, the mods may impose limits on the Captain Jack content.
Is that arbitrary? Are the Patrick O'Brian fans being censored? Doesn't the .win network claim to allow free speech? But is it really free speech if you just have a mob of users who demand nothing but historical naval fiction content? There's no hard and fast answer.
You have to have moderators, and they have to be empowered to make judgment calls, sometimes on some pretty weird issues—this is the internet, after all.
The trick is getting the right people.
Most of the low-level moderators on reddit don't think they're in favor of political censorship. They think they're just cleaning up degenerates and trolls. They're blind to their own bias, not realizing that good people can be anti-recycling or pro-gun. And hey, they're willing to take hours out of their day to moderate a forum about a niche anime. Not many people are willing to do that.
The developers of this site have some tough decisions ahead. Are we going to get TheMandalorian.win? Doesn't talking about Disney's flagship show continue to feed the media beast? And if the show starts to get SJW-y (which come on, I give it to Season Three at most before it does), and the user base of that sub starts to follow suit, is there going to be heavy-handed moderation—which some will interpret as censorship—to keep the site properly aligned with TheDonald, or are we just going to have to accept that there will be .wins that attract a huge number of left-leaning users? And then how do we keep this from turning into reddit 2.0 after five years?
The trick is getting the right people. We have the right people for the current size of the site. (Or I guess we should start calling it a network now.) We can scale up the traffic in a huge way pretty easily, but how do we cultivate enough excellent moderators? In addition to all of the technical challenges, there are sociological and human resources challenges, too. This is a massive undertaking. It will be impressive as hell if it succeeds.
I will probably be shit on for saying this but, i dont think we should ban the idiots from posting anti Trump stuff. Its freedom of speech, or it isnt. I remember seeing a post on T_D once that said something along the lines of: "an online community with freedom of speech and little to no censorship has always become right wing. And one with censorship has always become left wing. Leftist ideas cannot exist with out censorship." And i think that theres some truth to this. Just be careful. The mods say each site will use a different domain. If I was a crazy leftist I would register a bunch of other ".win" domains and clone the layout and phish for logins, which can then be used by them to break into things like Gmail or reddit or Twitter in many cases.
Some way to validate official domains is necessary. Best of all, would be moving them all into a single domain.

You'd also want to make sure that only users of the site could vote, otherwise during election periods people who aren't part of the community could pop in and throw votes to intentionally subvert the system.
Going a step further, what if there are 'sleepers' who do make accounts but have not contributed to the site and don't know enough about how it works to have a stake in the outcome? You could solve that by limiting voting rights to only those who have had an account on the site for a certain period of time (naturalization) and with a certain amount of comments and/or submissions (landholder).
It's probably too far-fetched to work! ...

TLOU1 is a stellar story about a zombie outbreak in the US, a dad who loses his daughter, and a 14 yr girl who lost her parents. They cross paths in a zombie apocalypse. Its a heartwarming, well written story. The dad struck me as a hard working, Texan, Christian values type, and the girl along the same moral spectrum. They help each other survive, and sort of adopt each other to fill the void their loved ones left.

Oh shit. Hopefully there is enough relatively new people to be able to re-acquaint myself with it. Usually when you pick up a FPS after putting it down for a while you wind up playing with the die hard badasses. The already steep curve is made insanely steep when populated exclusively by people who have been playing for years straight.

Buy HITMAN 2 (2018), with legacy, which means you get HITMAN 1 (2016) maps in the HITMAN 2 engine. Anything you unlock through HITMAN 2, will carry over to HITMAN 3.

I think one domain is much less confusing, and better for security as well (you don't want people having to re-enter credentials in a bunch of different domain names).
If they can take one site down, they can take all the other sites down. And if they take thedonald.win down, having guns.win will not mitigate the problem at all.

I say this as a software engineer who specializes in networking. Both DNS and the web servers are infinitely horizontally scalable.

The way a HTTP server works, it takes in a request which says "I want the front page of thedonald.win" or perhaps it says "gimme page 5 of freedom.win/gundeals". It's the same work load regardless of number of domains.
Different domains cause minor effects compared to having all under one, but scalability remains the same.
You can also have a dual approach, technically very easy to do but usually it confuses the normies: the same server can serve the same content on several different domains: you could have your choice of using "thedonald.win" or "freedom.win/thedonald" and it would serve the same content.
Many sites get born from single issue problems, for example this thedonald.win.
As the solution to the problem matures, they expand as people see the potential in them.
I'd consider this approach pretty good: underneath the surface we can build the discussion platforms much like reddit architecture, there are these subs and shared user account to read and write to all.
To keep the optics that you mention, TDW can keep its own entrance as is, its own domain. But underneath it's the same server that hosts the discussions.
This^ will allow far more sub forums than registering new domains, and will be easier to discover new sites and will help with the Alexa rankings and engagement

Basically once you do that companies run the website now and get to decide which content they want their ads displayed next to. Idk what the alternative would be. I'd like to point out a security concern with this design.
If all the new win sites are XXXXX.win, users have no way of knowing if they are authentic. For example, I could create 2genders.win, clone this site, advertise it, then harvest credentials of users that try to sign in.
A fix for this would be to use subdomains, such as 2genders.thedonald.win, or 2genders.td.win. With this method, there would be no issue. I understand for most people, they would only try and access officially sanctioned win sites, but all people wouldn't. My fraudulent 2genders.win site could show up in search results and fool a significant number of people that don't go to thedonald.win to check the official list of sites.
