Mueller was a republican but yes you are right. However it's a criminal thing not just a D thing. This is why every single one of them will scream innocence even after getting tossed in jail. They have nothing to lose for not doing it as you don't get extra time for pleading innocence. Cuomo is doing it by the book so far on his dodges of the nursing home scandal. He just lies and lies and lies and lies even though he knows it won't help in the end but what does he have to lose? If he admits it he goes to jail. If he denies it he might just have a sliver of chance to evade jail.
I think that would backfire though. It might keep him from talking under oath, but the double edge of that is how's he going to refute proof of crimes already committed if he tries to say he has dementia? Either he'd have to drop the charade to prepare a defense, or he wouldn't be able to contend that the evidence about his crimes are false.

Trump is almost done clearing the way of holdovers from previous admins so he can finally get them indicted and they are desperate to the point they would burn the nation down around their ears before they give up. Hell as far as I know they might already have indictments waiting but until the election is over only the low hanging fruit like comey and brennon etc could possibly be hauled in. But Trump can certainly expose them as much as he likes and I think we are about to see a flood of new evidence.
