It’s funny tho, he used dirty press tactics to get elected and then when he was elected, the man who helped him smear his opponent demanded a cabinet position. When Jefferson said no, the man proceeded to write in the newspapers about Jefferson’s mistress (who was a slave on his own plantation).
What amazes me the most about these quotes, is we look back in time at these periods and think they are sort of primitive. Yet they knew everything that could happen. How did they know all this?
