It makes sense if you want to deal with the legal hassle of a short barrel and suppressor, and have the time to hand load bullets so you're packing as much lead as possible in there and slinging it just under the speed of sound. If things get really rough, I’m honestly a fan of just flipping their shields to smack them in their own face.
Police and riot officers are trained how to properly use these scutum-esque shields and maintain control of it while defending. I highly doubt these Antifa faggot ones that were built in their parents’ basement with found wood is decent quality or something they’ve practiced with. If you’re able to get a solid grip on the bottom edge (like when they raise it far too high to protect their face because, again, it’s terribly built and they don’t know how to use them), you can continue to use their momentum against them and keep pushing it up - almost like you’re trying to spin it counterclockwise with the center being where they’re holding it. Then a few things can happen. If you’re lucky, they’ll realize a little too late what you’re doing and will try to lower it, but at that point all they’ve done is bring the upper edge near their face and your push will shove that edge right into their face pretty hard (might even break a nose - and if it’s really poorly built, might shatter part of the shield). If they don’t realize what you’re doing, they’ll continue to let the shield go above them and will be confused as to what the hell just happened and be completely open to a hit to the gut or face while one of their arms is completely away from the body and unable to defend (careful they don’t bring it down on you when you go for the hit). Last and what I think is most likely, they’re confused, unaware, but also physically weak. Throwing the shield above them like that will put them off balance pretty badly and may get them on their back. Then, if you feel the need, a few good kicks or stomps to the face or body will get them out of the game.
Summary: These people are untrained and not physically capable of using this stuff correctly and that can be exploited easily. (Or you could just do what I do and carry a high caliber gun with staggered FMJ and JHP rounds.)

I don't think you understand just how true and bloody those words might be.
