Just for the sake of telling this story though, the guy didn't call him "the word".

Turns out that insane people that beat on Macy's employees will lie and say that they were "called a name" because they think that it will give them a get out of jail free card. You know, a lying psychopath. The kind of guy that smiles in his mugshot photo like he is proud of what he did.

Legally no, but if he really did drop the N word the beating would be justified. I don't think he said it but legal does not equate to what is right.
