I know 2 men who were upper regional USA management for a Fortune 500. Each one was enticed to relocate internationally for 18-24 mo to rebuild/fix brand operations in South Africa and South America. The amount of cash incentives was crazy. Company paid for both to take their families to visit before deciding. Both said within 30 mins of arriving they were 100% OUT. Caravan of Private fully armed security driving their families 90 mph everywhere to avoid bad elements. Both were promised 24/7 armed security chaperones for entire 18-24 mo duration. Both said F NO. Soon to be the same as in Minneapolis.
Similar situation for me. I’ve been contacted by recruiters to work in the ME for crazy money. No thanks. I’ve known guys go over there and it’s the same, private security etc. one guy was telling me how they were at a plant and these armed muzzies showed up threatening people. Not worth it imo.
