But no one is using Gab. Parler has all the people; Gab has a better interface but also has a problem, paywalls. No social media site that withholds features behind a paywall will ever be able to compete against Twitter.

Gab also isn't in the Deep Web, you can link directly!

Their dissenter is pretty cool and fun too

I love it. I preferred the Chrome Add-on, but google somehow banned it even with manual installation (seriously, how does that work, I can install viruses right into the add-on folder, but not dissenter)

Have you been to Gab? It's a ghost town. It seems at least 250k signed up, because the CEO automatically adds new users and that's how many followers he has. But engagement on even his posts are minimal so it suggests a lot of the people that signed up, tried it, didn't stay on it.

You can't create groups on Gab without paying.

If it's going to compete against Facebook it will need to have groups available for free is all I'm saying.

Whenever i go on Gab any post outside a post shared by the CEO almost no engagements from much anything else. I would want to see some more people use that instead of Parler. But ultimately it won't matter if Gab supports free speech right now it could easily change at some point and that's why the actual laws need to be enforced/changed.
