Went to my favorite spot the other day. The cashier had a mask on. Cool. There plexiglass between us. Cool. You also order six feet away from the glass barrier. Cool. I start to order and cashier says no mask no service. Cool. I calmly explained that this is favorite spot and will always be my choice for where to spend my money but will not be spending a penny there until their policy changes. Have a nice day.

I’m pro mask. I support people voluntarily wearing masks and I support businesses voluntarily setting their own policies with regard to masks. I do not support government mandates unless there is a major crisis. Voluntarism is the way to go.
I agree with this sentiment. If protecting yourself is a priority then by all means. However, to think I should trust, rely on, or be controlled by others to protect me is ridiculous. My body my choice. The USA has been built on rugged individualism. We are not collectivist and all help to others is done voluntarily. Nothing commanded to be done will ever turn out better, or on par even, than the same action done voluntarily.
I do have to point out that most masks offer very little protection to the wearer and the reason for widespread mask use is to prevent people from spreading it to others. They are effective in that capacity. And if a person is able to I consider it to be a moral obligation to endure the minor inconvenience to lessen the risk to others. But like you said things are better than when not coerced.
Not to mention high risk vs low risk. I know people that contracted Wuhan Flu and recovered just fine. I consider myself low risk and honesty while I distance and make an effort I am also not concerned too much. Of course Coming from someone that should not be here by all rights. I have faith about where I’m headed. I took an SUV head on my motorcycle and somehow survived. I still have purpose here but have no problem moving on to where I belong. Faith, a concept liberals will never understand.
