Leftists hate the archive sites because it exposes their hypocrisy. Naturally, they will want to shut them down

Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” ― George Orwell, 1984

That's exactly what I thought of when I saw this post

1
hshdhhd 1 point ago +6 / -5

it only happened because complacent citizens did nothing. you are the complacent citizens. sure you gripe. you complain and you whine on the internet but that's as far as you'll goo.

3
Thearchduke 3 points ago +3 / -0

Not "complacent"-"betrayed". We pay cops and executive branches to enforce the laws. We are just now waking up to the fact that these entities need replacing.

2
Snowdone 2 points ago +3 / -1

If nothing is done it will be the end. Right now we are like a whale that is letting a school of sardines get away at eating at our flesh. We hold the upper hand yet do nothing. There are 80 trillion rounds out there...

0
ZyramRo 0 points ago +1 / -1

Nothing will change yet, people still have too much to lose. We're getting closer, but I don't think it's more than 10 years out. There's still some hope for law and order, some hope for common sense to come back, etc. There has to be a large enough group of us with nothing left to lose - I think a lot of us on the right crave stability. As long as things are stable enough, we'll keep going through some hardship. I hope this can be pulled back from the brink, I hope we can get some elected officials with some actual spines, and maybe just maybe, not have to go through the terrible time we all see coming.

Seems like an obvious dick-move by international marxism.

Archive should suddenly have an 'unknown exploit' (ooops) which allows people to download massive, even complete, backup files of their entire datahorde.

9
Friendly_B 9 points ago +9 / -0

How do we make this happen?

8
Necrovoter 8 points ago +8 / -0

Archive sites should receive the same 20 year grace period that Youtube was given before they have to worry about copyright. In fact, until Youtyube is prosecuted and legally held liable for trillions of dollars of copyright violations (including the long prison terms in copyright law) then archive shouldn't be held accountable.

24

Or just print screen the parts you need and save as images to disc

They still have to get rid of military history to erase some things

42
FergieJR 42 points ago +42 / -0

They changed textbooks and are toppling statues.... They are working on it

5
Mr-J 5 points ago +7 / -2

the military started that as well, letting in women first, then open gays, now trannys

They want mentally ill soldiers, not normal ones who will refuse to blow away their own family and town

6
XpatDemocrat 6 points ago +6 / -0

Same thing they are doing with the statues. Erasing history so it can be rewritten

111
spezisacuckold 111 points ago +111 / -0

It’s also why they censor and remove comment sections.

62
shadypollster 62 points ago +62 / -0

Yup. Dissenter is fun for sharing comments to other gabsters.

28
spezisacuckold 28 points ago +28 / -0

Damn I completely forgot about that. Installed it a year ago but it was crickets... doesn’t seem like they’ve a done even a mediocre job marketing the browser/extension.

30
SylvesterInk 30 points ago +31 / -1

The extension is blocked from most of the browser repos (you have to sideload it), so they focused on the browser. But the browser has taken a lower priority due to them trying to scale Gab up for the latest influx of people coming in, plus defending against the attacks, plus dealing with deplatforming issues (like Visa deciding to blacklist them).

13
bigdickhangsright 13 points ago +13 / -0

How do we donate?

AnointedVisions 15 points ago +16 / -1

We call Visa. I have Visa cards. This is news to me, so I'm gonna call. Everyone should. These companies think only leftists use their products because only leftists call and raise hell. We need to flood these companies with calls and remind them that patriots use thier products too

11
Jubal777 11 points ago +12 / -1

4

No browser supports the addon. Firefox and chrome removed it, then bugged the crap out of you if you installed from dissenter website, to disable it. I kept inadvertently disabling it because of that, and opted for dissenter browser instead.

Screw these commie corporations! Firefox especially for turning on what they original stood for: free and open internet.

8
MSG1000 8 points ago +9 / -1

If you like Firefox still as a browser try Waterfox, I installed because the two add-ons I cared about couldn’t be supported when they rewrote their code base.

9
Eric42 9 points ago +9 / -0

I used to use waterfox as my noscript (firefox addon) browser, it was recently sold to an ad company (System1). I no longer trust it.

Must have stopped the annoying user tactic. I had issue with it when I first learned of dessenter a year or two ago.

1
Isolated_Patriot 1 point ago +1 / -0

Same, I installed it right at the start. I rarely see the little red number telling me there are actual dissents, though. I have it working in Brave too.

3
AllAmericanAdonis 3 points ago +4 / -1

Try Brave but disable BAT and install unlock origin to block ads and other baddies.

1
Eric42 1 point ago +1 / -0

uBlock origin looks like a nice addon. A mix between noscript and adblock. I'm going to test that out. Thank you!

2

1
ThePatriotGames2016 1 point ago +2 / -1

I use Brave but what is BAT?

1
Deaf_MAGA_Pede 1 point ago +1 / -0

Basic Attention Token

Cryptocurrency based on Ethereum Blockchain. Brave pays you to browse the Internet in BAT. When you open a new tab, you will see "Brave Rewards" on the right side, at least it is for me. Should be there or somewhere on the new tab.

1
AllAmericanAdonis 1 point ago +1 / -0

Google Basic Attention Token. It's a way for creators to get paid for content. I say Google it because I don't know the specifics off hand.

32
deleted 32 points ago +32 / -0
29
Keln 29 points ago +29 / -0

It isn't so much that he was prescient, just that the things in his book were what the intellectuals of his day were discussing. His book was a way to show the pure hell that these intellectuals would create if they had their way. He also had living examples like Stalin to draw from.

Totalitarianism isn't a new thing. All Orwell did was juxtapose it with what future technology might make possible.

6
America1stAndOnly 6 points ago +6 / -0

And yet the guy was still a socialist. He was clearly already an avid practitioner of double think.

1
PamelaCincinnatus 1 point ago +1 / -0

kek

Y'know, I suspect all human beings are in one way or another, and of course, we don't realize it until something makes us see it. A lot of wisdom is realizing you were wrong about stuff, especially deep things, like who you really are or what it means to be happy. I think repentance usually has less to do with deciding not to do something bad anymore than with realizing how twisted something is you had assumed was okay (and seeing how much better the alternative is).

1
America1stAndOnly 1 point ago +1 / -0

But that's kind of the point. If someone points out to you that you hold conflicting views, you should be capable of taking time to examine the views rationally and adjust yourself accordingly. Someone that actively participates in double think does not self reflect when confronted with their double think.

1
PamelaCincinnatus 1 point ago +1 / -0

I think clinging to ego instead of clinging to truth is the cause of this. Self reflection should be a skill one can learn, but without humility it becomes a vain mental exercise. A shallow person uses their ego as a safety blanket because they lack anything deeper to cling to. True self reflection is therefore avoided because he imagines it would deprive him of his only real source of stability, and he views the world beyond as a dark void because he has isolated himself from God and therefore from any but a cynical view of the profound.

I would like to archive a few websites into my local storage but I don’t know how and when I researched I only saw a service that the way back machine could provide. Do you have a decently simple way of downloading/archiving a site onto local storage?

3
Mashiki 3 points ago +3 / -0

Use archive.today, download the zip. Propagate(copy) zip file to as many backup devices as you want.

If you're in for some serious archiving stuff, then you need to start looking at methods of preservation, redundant arrays, on-site backups, off-site backups.

1
CMDRConanAAnderson 1 point ago +1 / -0

Never noticed they had the download option since it's so tiny. I tried saving a few of my old archives on there and they say 'Not Found'. Do you have to download the zip there and then when the archive is created? I'm thinking this one will be targeted next and I have so many links I'd probably need to start backing up now before they suddenly disappear.

1
Mashiki 1 point ago +1 / -0

Only once the archive is created. It also keeps all cached copies or did in the same zip file so you could see multiple changes/edits. Unless the owner of archive.today changes their mind I doubt they're going to get pushed off. And if that happens we're going to see a rehash of SJWs trying to push domains registars to pull bullshit again.

All that will do is push people hard to adopt Distributed DNS instead.

15
Terrortot 15 points ago +17 / -2

Copyright Law has become a cudgel to stop human progress and the free dissemination of ideas.

Intellectual property is a nonsensical concept -- you cannot own an idea in the same way you own property because if someone uses an idea it poses no burden on someone else using an idea.

Executive Order that I'd like to see, -- effective immediately, all federal agents involved in copyright enforcement will be transferred to investigate human trafficking. Copyright infringement for personal use will be exempt from all civil penalties. Aggregators and repositories and trackers, like the Internet Archive, may raise funds to cover operating expenses.

Fuck the RIAA, Fuck the MPAA, and Fuck 'em all for the DMCA

Copying is a basic human right. If these fuckwads had been in charge during the neolithic era, we'd still be arguing about who has the right to use the number three.

That really is sad, being a bit older i remember the internet from that time and was just such a incredible time for tech and as the years went on we had so much fun, it was like a beautiful new world and anything seemed possible. I will always remember those times fondly made a lot of friends and it just had a different vibe and was free and open.

Now the globalist fascists are trying to take over everything as their lies can been seen too easily so they think they are winning by taking over reddit, google, facebook hosting, paypal etc etc

But that is because everything is centralized and they can just attack anyone they disagree with.

But i think the future is decentralized platforms, if your interested in that kind of thing check out what Skycoin is doing with its Skywire meshnet a replacement for the internet that's faster, secure and untraceable kind of a mixture of CJDNS, TOR, torrents etc. With their CXO a decentralized data replication, propagation, and storage protocol/framework they could host the wayback machine and as other people can also replicate that data kinda like IPFS/ Torrents but you also get paid for sharing data/bandwidth you could have a truly decentralized mirror of that data. And due to the way the Skywire meshnet works it would be impossible to shut down as its was designed to survive in hostile countries with fascist governments and also in case of nuclear war :) as it can automatically route around problems and find the fastest path for the data. It also been designed to run over pretty much any connection so if you imagine you live in the middle of nowhere you could use something like Hamradio or LoRaWan (20km) to connect to another Skywire node if you so wished although would be lower bandwidth, they have also been designing their own cheap antennas and are working on a steerable parabolic WiFi antenna with a LoRaWan module in it so it can find other steerable antennas with the long range LoRaWan and create links automatically with the WiFi side but that's more for the future but obviously can use point to point WiFi links so if you lived rural the people could build there own infrastructure and as you get rewarded for bandwidth it encourages people to setup Skywire nodes for people to use so if you lived somewhere there is a fiber-optic connection within a few hundred miles it would be possible to build a link out to a cabin in the middle of nowhere for example. Also worth pointing out that with Skywire there is going to be a freemium tier so you could use the internet for most things and then if you want to stream tons of data you would end up paying for that bandwidth which will be set by whoever runs the local meshnet.

They have also a VPN that is going to be released which as it runs on Skywire you cannot track or log data even in they wanted too, going to be really really fast too because of the routing and you can pay to prioritize latency if you wanted a really low ping link.

If you imagine they one day try to come and shut down the donald.win but it was hosted on a platform like that you could have a thousand mirrors of the site all kept on a unstoppable meshnet and you could even be posting memes over grandpas old ham radio lol

I am no expert in it all and some of the technical's go over my head but i feel like its going to be incredible once its fully working.

I always think i will post something short but end up writing a wall of text but i just want people to know what is out there and what could be coming, there are a few other people trying to do what Skycoin is doing but i feel Skycoin is the one to beat.

CHUCK WENDIG. The man responsible for this is DC comic book artist CHUCK WENDIG. (He is a public figure.)

And he did this because Internet Archive patrons downloaded his book five times.

FIVE. DOWNLOADS.

Crap, there's a ton of stuff I've saved in the Wayback Machine over the years, old forum projects from around 2003 - 2005 and the like.

Where can I go to save this stuff alternatively? How can I transfer a Wayback page to another archive?

Archive the Wayback link in another archive site.
Soon we'll have archives of archives of archives.

The thing I liked about wayback was how it archived YouTube videos. It was a great way to find a copy of deleted videos. .is doesn’t do this

Brewster Kahle has a lot of friends in tech. I wouldn't expect this to happen without a pretty significant fight.

Partly. It's also because they are not paying the rights-holders a license fee for their copyrighted materials. Public libraries, however, do pay those fees.

Archive.org is handy, but it is essentially piracy with a fancy hat.

So is this saying games I've bought online I'll soon lose the rights to ownership and can no longer download in the future?

7
flashersenpai 7 points ago +7 / -0

well, you could lose the rights if the drm fucks you, but in this case I think they are saying that saved websites of old games/downloads/etc could be erased from IA/WBM due to the lawsuit
