I knew it was a game when they left the liquor stores open for state tax revenue.

98
Robmak3 98 points ago +98 / -0

Not just liquor. Pot too in states with it legalized.

Yet if youre in NJ and you just wanted to go to a church or gym or small business the police would show up. Even if you sold your stuff on Facebook live and did it all online, in the middle of the night.

FWIW, I'm a functional pot smoking pede, and I was grateful for this. Pot doesn't affect the lungs like tobacco does either, especially if a water pipe is utilized.

31
AbsurdOpinion 31 points ago +32 / -1

The only thing pot related that won't adversly affect your lungs would be edibles. Any kind of smoking or vaping will weaken your lungs. It's very gradual, hardly noticeable, but the effect is real.

10
mharr1s 10 points ago +14 / -4 (edited)

He's definitely right. Smoking weed doesn't have anywhere NEAR the same effect as smoking tobacco. I use to smoke before basketball games I swear I could run FOREVER. There's tons of fake news out there about cannabis, especially on the conservative side. I do agree that it's a bit ridiculous these shops are staying open despite everything else though

14
AbsurdOpinion 14 points ago +15 / -1

Young lungs can compensate for a lot of abuse... but there will come a time when you'll wish you hadn't abused those alveoli. Same holds true for your brain cells. When you're in your 20's you will feel invulnerable, but years later you'll regret taking such poor care of your most important resource - your own body.

Any effect on your lungs caused by smoking Marijuana can be reversed, can't say the same for Tobacco. As for the Brain cells, I'm no scientist but from my experience a week or two break from smoking always gets me feeling completely normal. I highly doubt a real, non-bias study has been done on the effect of brain cells due to smoking pot.

1
magacheeseball 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don’t think I was castigating that pede at all, at least not my intention. Just asking a direct question. He can stand behind his words if he likes. We all should be able to defend ourselves to questioning if we’re taking a point on an issue

1
Weremoose 1 point ago +1 / -0

There's a false binary in your question, though. You're assuming that he can't be grateful to be allowed to pursue his hobby while also being upset at the general backdrop of tragedy.

That's why it's a castigation.

If we needed masks so badly, these stores would be lined with corpses.

15
doug2 15 points ago +17 / -2

That's a bad take. They left the liquor stores open because you can literally die from alcohol withdrawal and it really isn't even that hard. You know how many addicts are out there? There would be more seizure deaths than covid deaths if they did this. It really would be negligent as fuck to do this (close liquor stores).

6
HughGRection 6 points ago +6 / -0

This is the real reason.

4
astro_eng 4 points ago +7 / -3

I would actually be ok with this!

3
deleted 3 points ago +5 / -2
2
doug2 2 points ago +2 / -0

It is a fraction of how many would die from closing the shops. Plus in the USA alcohol is legal, so they have every right to be dependent on alcohol. You can't stop it. You can stop mass death and seizures from alcohol withdrawal by simply exempting liquor stores. It's the obvious and only call man.

2
Aquamine-Amarine 2 points ago +2 / -0

And? I'm sorry but I have no sympathy for alcoholics. Let them suffer from alcohol withdrawal. They did this to themselves. You're just making excuses and enabling their addiction. I was forced to quarantine with an alcoholic and it continued to destroy my already declining mental health. So many other children in this country were likely in the same exact situation. Fuck alcoholics.

1
doug2 1 point ago +1 / -0 (edited)

No, I'm certainly not enabling an addiction. You know why doctors and addiction specialists all, universally and unequivocally advise against going cold Turkey or trying to detox from alcohol without medical supervision? Because it is incredibly dangerous and should be done ina medical facility under clinical supervision with the assistance of medication. That's cool you think it's ok to let people die because their brain chemistry and reward circuitry has been hijacked by addiction but you can't expect public policy decisions that allow this to happen. I admit I am biased because I was heavily addicted to heroin for years. I am pretty sure nothing would ever make me agree with you that millions of people deserve to die when preventing it requires nothing other than exempting liquor store closures.

I saw a post on FB from some Karen who got tested and asked “if I test positive does that mean I will be in the hospital on a ventilator? What happens?” They legit didn’t believe that if they were positive, they would mostly sit aT home for 14 days and be back to normal.

24
LetFreedomRing 24 points ago +24 / -0

Well, once you get to the hospital, there's a good chance they'll put you on a ventilator to die so they can collect their 39k.

18
_Sully_ 18 points ago +18 / -0

People are also forgetting that everyone felt that it was pretty much over so they actually started going back to the hospital for their normal shit. You get tested regardless of the reason you are there. This simply further shows that the country reached herd immunity by mid May if not sooner.

I find it frustrating that even the two leading COVID tracker websites I visit don't have any numbers on testing. When I heard over 20M (was it 25M) were tested, and supposedly the testing rates are still increasing, I thought it was remarkable.

11
PROCIsAsshoe 11 points ago +11 / -0

Watched something on Thursday with Pence and he mentioned that they've done roughly 30MM tests as of Thursday. The way we win the information war on covid is by exposing just how many of us have had it and are fine. Talk of weekly testing capacity of ~20MM by Fall, I don't think we'll get there but they are definitely going hard on testing as a way to enlighten people about the reality of the virus. Of course, the media will play their usual shit head role and selectively report on the facts and it'll be up to the people to discern the true state of affairs.

6
ailurus 6 points ago +6 / -0

https://coronavirus.1point3acres.com/en/test doesn't have deaths, but does have cases and tests, as well as (for some states anyway) hospitalization numbers and capacity.

5

This site is great. Their data is used by the Hopkins model, the Whitehouse, etc. https://covidtracking.com/data/us-daily

3
HocusLocus 3 points ago +3 / -0 (edited)

The John Hopkins site has good information on testing (click on tiny word 'testing' along the top of the page). Not just US but also by-state ... tests (pink bar), the number that test positive (dark yellow bar) and the changing ratio (line, down is good). This MedCram video explains it well.

Look to MedCram's COVID update videos for a real smorgasbord of concise detailed information. Are you getting tired as fuck of people dumbing down everything you read, omitting essential details? Then MedCram is for you.

the TESTING TESTING MORE TESTING!!! bullshit the media was badgering about 3 months ago was for EXACTLY this purpose, so they could scream on volume 11 about all the SPIKING CASES!!! and knew the american people were too stupid to look past the headlines.

It was a media setup. And the intent of course is to lead to another lockdown - maximum fear and not let the economy recover (until after November).

13
Pede 13 points ago +13 / -0

The only number that matters is the one they won't share: The number of hospitalizations.

3
SirSeizureSalad 3 points ago +3 / -0

The numbers I want to see are the past 10 Jan averaged together for total deaths (for any cause), past 10 Feb, March, April, May, June, etc.

Only then, can we determine the estimated amount of ADDITIONAL deaths of pre-covid to post.

If anyone has this data, I'd love to see it.

1
Pede 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yep, I've been waiting to see the monthly all-cause death count to compare. One wrench in the gears is a few things like car accidents went down, but suicides went up.

57
IncredibleMrE1 57 points ago +57 / -0

The "spikes" in cases (note that we are only hearing about CASES now, not DEATHS) are among the young people 18-40.

The MSM that lauded the stunning and brave BLM protestors and rioters and looters of course will never admit what the cause for the "spikes" is. Because they're TOTALLY unbiased and fair and accurate in all their reporting.

18
deleted 18 points ago +18 / -0
12
TennesseePride 12 points ago +12 / -0

The spike in cases includes antibody test results, which they aren't bothering to mention. If you get an antibody test, and you are shown to have had an infection at some point, you are considered a "New Case".

4
silflay 4 points ago +4 / -0

I’ve suspected this as a cause for these “spikes”, in addition to increased testing in general. Missed any articles on it but did find on by The Atlantic. Not a surprise it isn’t widely reported on. Thanks for posting.

2
TennesseePride 2 points ago +2 / -0

For sure. I didn't know about it myself until my wife recently showed me an article about it. It's unreal that the numbers are being pushed like that.

3
muppeton 3 points ago +3 / -0

Exactly. Most people probably got it back in March and have since long recovered.

1
MaxineWaters4Prez 1 point ago +1 / -0

And if you are tested multiple times and test positive multiple times, you're counted each time.

9
KekistanPM 9 points ago +10 / -1

Not doubting you but I wondered if you had any good sources that connect increases in cases with protestors. I found a June 13th USA Today article that I could infer to mean there is, as well as a June 4th Austin KVUE article too. However both walk on eggshells of "There MAY be a connection, there is PROBABLY a connection but we just don't know."

I had Fox News on a while ago...almost every story focuses hysterically on the spike in Covid cases. "The US reaches a grim milestone as Covid cases increase..." It's really fake news since this is due to increased testing. Plus the majority of new cases are under 35 yrs old. Hospitalizations are remaining stable, and deaths are declining. I'm also wondering if deepstate operatives deliberately spread the virus in those areas. It's very suspicious that we had this big lag in spread/spike.

10
bloodyminded 10 points ago +10 / -0

From what I understand, the lag you see is not what you think. It's a matter of testing. For the longest time, the tests didn't work, then there weren't enough. Now, I'm led to understand that they do work and there are enough of them.

Which is why we are seeing a spike in cases. What you won't see is a spike in hospitalizations or deaths.

3
SampsonSimpson 3 points ago +3 / -0

Also, if you walk into a hospital for appendicitis, you covid tested, broke a toe, covid tested. They test everybody now, symptoms or not.

1
2scoops2websites 1 point ago +1 / -0

Hospitalizations are going up, but what they don’t tell you is states have months of elective surgery backlog to get through and every patient is tested for Covid. Positive or negative, it’s a Covid hospitalization because they are in the hospital and got tested for it.

Those peak numbers are from the time during which nearly everyone who died in certain states was getting labeled as a COVID death.

We really need them to go back and adjust for deaths where COVID was not the primary cause of death. That is likely to significantly reduce the already very low mortality for those without comorbidites present.

I just heard Mitch Mcconnell say that masks were very important and need to be worn UNTIL THERE IS A COVID VACCINE. This is just fake science being used to push something nefarious.

2
MsAnthropic 2 points ago +2 / -0

I think the excess deaths numbers (which is how they calculate flu) will sort that out. The numbers will show that 2020 wasn’t a very deadly year.

5
hectorspector 5 points ago +5 / -0

I've noticed a media language change. They've gone from "positive COVID tests" to "COVID Cases". Why? Hospitalizations are flat, and the mortality rate is dropping. How to you keep the fear at level 11? "COVID cases" could mean some dude with a positive COVID test, but asymptomatic or it could mean diabetic grandma on a ventilator. "Positive COVID tests" mean just that. If they only reported raw COVID hospitalization number and COVID deaths people would sniff out the scam.

I work in a hospital and through the entire thing we have had a total of 4 confirmed cases with one death. The one death was an individual with severe underlying conditions. We near shut down a major hospital for 4 cases. I have come to realize that hospitals have to do this even though they know it is unnecessary. We laughed about it at first, now it just makes most people I speak with angry

I'm 100% convinced that over 75% of the deaths attributed to this where purposely placed in a situation to contract it or where placed on the list even though the China Virus had little to nothing to do with their deaths.

And these are the inflated numbers, at that. Notice it includes pneumonia and influenza.

JetJocky 4 points ago +4 / -0

You notice the only number being promoted by the media is the total number of new cases but that's not the number that is most important. What is important is the age group breakdown, hospitalization rate and death rate. Hospitalizations and deaths remain low. So if the new cases are mostly under age 45 it makes a huge difference.

Whoa, my first sticky!

I just made a second one for mortality rates.

I had noticed that the news has stopped reporting DEATHs and is only reporting increase in infections. Totally different.

It cracks me up seeing liberals on Facebook having a panic attack over numbers and how anyone who leaves the house is literally a murderer. Meanwhile my family of conservatives are having a beautiful summer and enjoying life. Eat a dick, faggots.

trockr 3 points ago +3 / -0

Wait. So there was pretty much no risk for anyone under 45? Why the eff did I stay inside at all!?

4
lustmorden [S] 4 points ago +5 / -1

Spread the word. CDC estimating 0.05% fatality rate for under 45s and 0.4% overall: https://thedonald.win/p/FzYdUYdv/flatten-the-fear/c/

Tired of pretending these commies actually care about us. They aren't going to stop these restrictions. They will find another excuse. Even if a new disease has to come.

Bu- but muh second wave

Keiichi81 3 points ago +3 / -0

“Yeah, but the number of people catching it is rising! Don’t you see how scary this is?! Clearly the killer COVID virus is surging into a second wave and we’re going to need to lock down again! Another five months should be sufficient. What’s that? We’re only seeing rising infection rates because we’re continuing to increase and expand testing? Well that sounds like just the sort of thing a Trump supporter who wants to kill grandma would say!” -MSM, every goddamn day

Every goddamn day, even here in Australia.

Well we are at day 5 or 6 of all these increased cases. Another week will be telling. I predict a continual decline in death rate. Everyone testing positive now is younger because all of these people have been staying home. Now they are out and about and it is getting spread around. People feel ill and go get a test.

Addendum:

Pink line and below are those who we closed down the economy for.

light blue and below are those we canceled school for.

The ones above the pink line are who the media is ignoring.

I was skeptical of this one until I looked for myself

I wouldn't be surprised at this point... if sharing this chart from the CDC might get taken down on some social media networks.

Probably, they are fact-checking the WHO now 😂

Screw social media and make print outs!

I've been looking for a good set of data. Thank you. If I'm not mistaken, I may be of course, but didn't the largest number of deaths occur during the lockdown? If masks, shutdowns, etc were effective wouldn't the spike in deaths be before the lockdowns and during the reopening? Obviously more testing means more cases.

Has anyone heard of a huge spike in deaths in December, January, February, and March when the virus, while not televised, should have been rampaging through the nation since there were no masks, no shutdowns, no social distancing? The last time I looked for total deaths in 2020 vs 2019 was only through April 28th there were less deaths overall this year.

Shouldn't we have roughly 120,000 more deaths due to covid instead of less overall?

2
GregTheTraceur 2 points ago +2 / -0

When we started getting data about how the actual infection rates were anywhere between 10x and 80x confirmed infection rates, I thought that it wasn't being reported just because it made Kung Flu sound scarier than it is.

I didn't expect this, though. Now, despite deaths continuing to drop, they can squeeze out a little bit more panic out of it by making the confirmed cases rise for a little while longer until it hits actual numbers.

"Just wait two weeks" they say every two weeks.

I like how it has to include flu AND just general pneumonia.

Won't work. My parents won't listen to this. My mom is too fearful of this Kung Flu.

Even that spike was proven to be largely bullshit, anyway.
