It required phone number to sign up, requires account to see anything on that site. It's user agreement requires users to follow local laws (what about dissidents in China and Hong Kong? ). Even requires user to agree to pay their legal fees if the users posts leads (even indirectly? ) to lawsuit. Many more terms sound weird to me. Why so many influences and politicians on the right push hard for it? Why it's not banned and deplatformed like Gab (app store, hosting service, payment services) ? What do you guys think?

Yep. Social media morphed into a powerful corporate drug during the 'Web 2.0' era. We need to get back to old school methods. Time for forums to make a comeback.

And especially forums that are designed not to function on "smart" phones. The level of discussion is pathetically low on most forums now, because everybody is just reading and commenting from their phones, just looking at whatever pops up as "new" or "hot", and reacting with all the thought involved in swatting a fly. Not searching for specific content, not searching the web for actual information to build meaningful comments, that serve as the foundation for serious discussion. At least 95% of content on most forums is just killing time and circle-jerking.

100% this. And that's basically what this place is just without the different sections.

Reeedit is a good implementation of a forum as well, just badly managed. I think this place is based off of whatever they open sourced, anyone can probably do the same thing if they wanted to get something rolling immediately
