If the degrees and education they offer are not worth it then the default should go back on them.

I honestly don’t understand why in this time of eat the rich socialism their hate can’t be redirected to the people who got them in debt as indentured servants. Higher education not only brain washed but also made them into debt slaves.

Damn that is an awesome idea. Especially with the kind of endowments major universities have stashed away.

This is such a good idea. The govt needs to stop subsidizing student loans. But also keep the interest rate at 0% until I can pay mine off. Only took 10 years, but several finally paid off this year! Thanks President Trump and God for the good economy and my new job after a covid-layoff!

Been saying this for years. At the very least make them cosign the loans. They all have massive endowments, they can afford it. As it stands they make parents cosign, and the paren5 has virtually no control over the student.

I totally agree and have been saying this too. If you spent $80,000 on a car and it turns out it doesn’t drive, the car dealer can’t just shrug and say “oh well”. This is what our higher education system does. Even worse, if you can’t get a job with your bachelors in feminist writing, they will suggest you pay them more to get a masters in feminist writing.

If the university had to “invest” in students, they would be forced to consider work ethic, and offer degrees with a market demand.

Government back student loans should stop now. Schools jack up tuition rates and don't give a rats ass if they default. Taxpayers foot the bill.

That would be an excellent method of making higher ed responsible for the quality of product they sell.

There used to be a handful of colleges that allowed you to work there to pay for your tuition. Berry College in Georgia was one. They don't anymore sadly now it's too expensive for the poor girls it was set up to serve. But there's Hope.I think College of the Ozarks is another one still in operation. This is probably not a viable option nationwide. But it should be more prevalent than student loans.

Loans are the responsibility of the signers. When the borrowers decide to pursue a retaded education path that doesnt help them in life, that is their own fault. The "people who got them in debt" are the people who signed the loan agreements. If the loan signers don't practice due dilligence with regards to the supposed value of the education being offered, that is on them.

I am not defending the universities. I went to a university and dropped out(I've paid off all my loans). I was not impressed with "higher education" and saw it to be a scam (useless prerequisites, shitty professors, commie indoctrination)All learning could now take place online with self discipline. Youtube is an amazing resource for everyone's education. Sadly, people care more Kardashians and cat videos to make any difference in their lives.

To anybody reading this, follow Dave Ramsey's method to get out of debt. You'll need discipline and sacrifice to do it. Its worth it. You can free yourself from the mindset that debt is necessary.

Exactly. And then maybe they’d quit making college a county club experience for these entitled young adults. Remember college back then? Concrete block dorm room shared with a roommate and collective bathroom down the hall. We all had pails to carry our shampoo and toiletries. Humbling and appropriate. Not like these luxury apartments these spoiled entitled brats live in nowadays!

They should only offer loans for good degrees. Like I'm going into buisness law, and my sibling went into medicine. Our worthless undergrad degrees were paid for out of pocket because my family worked hard to save enough to go to college without debt. We're not wealthy by any means, so my law degree has to be paid for with a full loan. But then again, a law degree isn't worthless.

Better idea would be to force colleges to cut the bullshit undergrad classes. Would have saved the family 20,000 plus on my bachelor's alone. 50+ if I could skip that LSA degree entirely
