Just because a mask doesn’t stop all virus particles from being inhaled doesn’t mean it doesn’t stop some. The viral load you are initially exposed to is directly correlated it how sick you get. That’s why we saw relatively healthy healthcare workers getting very sick, they were exposed to the highest doses of the virus.
