I hear you, I picked up 200 rounds for my .45, paid $0.40 a round, compared to the brass I got for $1.40. Brass for defense, aluminum for the range, and good cleaning in between.
230 grain FMJ slugs. Was ALL they had when I went up there, and were reserving that for people that were buying guns. So, I also had to buy another gun :) There's a run on .45 here in Louisiana.
Since the Whu Flu and the "Peaceful Protests" ammo is in short supply.
A quality HP such as 50 Rounds of Federal Premium 9mm 124 Grain HST JHP LE runs $45.00 plus ship and tax... if you can find it. Local gun shops are raping people right now.
So $1.00+ per round is not unheard of for popular calibers.
On a side note, I picked up 1000 rds. of .357 Sig LE for less than 9mm which is unheard of. Again, supply and demand.
If your gun feeds it and your range allows it, don't hesitate to buy that Federal aluminum. I've shot many thousand rounds of it. Top-quality range ammo. I've also never had problems with Blazer aluminum, but haven't shot as much of that.
What's the reason? Shortage of brass? I do some work with the soda industry and everyone is dropping certain flavours due to an aluminum shortage. You fucks taking our aluminum?
lol, I imagine aluminum is short probably due to boxite supply line disruptions. Haven't heard of it before now. Brass is at a premium now because all of a sudden a whole bunch of extra people just figured out this year that it's important to be able to defend yourself. https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/nics_firearm_checks_-_month_year.pdf/view
I don't know, but I sure as hell ain't. I was nervous enough shooting it the first time. It shot fine, and I kept all the casings, didn't see any cracks or anything, but just because it's aluminum I wouldn't recommend it.
I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT SHOOTS ALUMINUM CASING!!!
When everyone makes a run for all the ammo, you gotta get what you can get. I have a shipment of 1000 brassy boys shipping home right now, though.
Brassy based boys ftw
