I thought at least some country people relied on income from the agriculture sector of the economy ? Collapsing cities is not real good for that.

When the city's collapse the price of food in those areas will skyrocket. Someone will see an opportunity and buy the farmer's stuff and truck it in, maybe under an armed escort. Farmers may take a short term hit but will be fine in the long-run. That's the glory of free-market capitalism if we can keep some bureaucrat from fucking it up.
