If the elders of the church are asking for that, I do not see it as a weakness on Pence’s part.

AlphaNathan 81 points ago +84 / -3

Well it's also taught in the bible to obey our leaders unless their orders directly violate God's law.

Trust me, I have my own cognitive dissonance going on with that one, since I won't wear a mask and I live under pooper Cooper's mandate.

All hath sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

43
ChrisTheSoberITGuy 43 points ago +46 / -3

I was in a gun shop yesterday and only wore my mask if others near me had theirs on.

If nobody else had it on I took it off.

I figure I can respect mask wearers - especially the elderly ones - but still take it off if nobody else cares. If you're under 65 you're fine.

17
Everquest4Life 17 points ago +19 / -2

This is a very wise and thoughtful compromise.

7
RandoMando 7 points ago +10 / -3

Exactly my strategy. I only wear mine out of respect for those that care or are high risk. I slip it on when 6ft can’t be maintained. Especially if someone approaching is visually high risk. However, if I’m off in a corner or obviously staying out of other people’s way and some stupid fuck security or service worker wants to challenge me it’s straight to I have a medical condition please stay back and leave me alone.

Wanderlust 5 points ago +6 / -1

My lgs is real small but no one was wearing a mask. Very refreshing for being behind enemy lines in a communist state.

Comrade Garcetti in LA has decided we can play doubles tennis..but only wearing a glove on the non-dominant hand while serving and everybody must have their own balls marked with their initials, and can only touch their own balls. How's that for government overreach?

North Carolina is losing hard. We’ve been muzzled by our cuck in Chief. I had to get a doctor’s documentation that I am physically unable to wear a mask. It’s absurd.

Yep, I keep one in my purse in case it’s needed. But businesses aren’t allowed to ask for documentation. It’s in case the cops get called or something.

Only issue there is: do employees actually follow executive order, especially last part; sure it can be challenged to court but then delay would already have happened

So here's the thing: Legal Name Fraud, heard about that? It's where the people are lured into using an external, corporate identity; A person.

The effect of this is the outsourcing of creation itself.

40
Shermoo 40 points ago +40 / -0

Maybe I have an unpopular opinion, you guys tell me.

Businesses/Events - Set their mask policies and reinforced by being denied service. People can vote with their dollar.

Government - Against legal mandates. To much power/slippery slope.

27
SwampMonsterJesus 27 points ago +28 / -1

I agree with you 100%. If it's a business I really like that produces quality product or service, I'll wear a mask or go through hoops to get what I want. If I can get something better or similar quality that isn't too much more or hopefully even less, I'll take my business there.

When it comes to the government, the government can fuck off.

Now the government certainly is mandating businesses to force people to wear masks, but that falls under the "too much power/slippery slope" part. But if we take that away, if a business wants to have their patrons do something to shop there, I have no issue. Stores should be allowed to accept business from whoever they want, no matter how silly it might be.

This is why it's so awful that small shops have struggled so much. They first struggled with big regulation and taxes that larger corporations can shrug off. They now struggle with threats to close down and only allow Walmart and the like operate and make money. If all we've got left is Walmart, and it's because of the government, why should they get to decide if I wear a mask to go shopping? They've shut down all my free options at that point.

Right, my church is asking for anyone in the main sanctuary to wear a mask, but in the second service it's optional, so they are allowing some flexibility.

Paramedics on the scene said that at first Everest was unable to move, but when they fed him some bagels from the foyer and gave him a sip of freshly-brewed extra-light roast coffee, he perked right up. It was about that time the rest of the worship team arrived to get warmed up.

7

He didn't virtue signal about it, he just did it out of respect to elderly people in attendance who are 100x more likely than young healthy people to be affected. A kind gesture to people who came out and wanted to meet the VP.

Winning the war is more important more than winning a singular battle. To be clear, I’m against masks as well. The fact that Pence has the balls to call BLM out as to what they really are and refuses to bend the knee to them means way more to me than deciding to wear a mask at church (which again I’m against).

Why are people accepting policies that are, while perhaps not government enforced, come from government and unfree press propaganda? From unprincipled, bunk "science"?

Why normalize masks? This is the United States of America, not China, not Vietnam, not Cambodia. Stop it. Choose freedom... our country was founded on it, many have died for you to have it. No masks...

If you want to wear it, it is your choice, but the mask is a political symbol promoting evil, oppressive propaganda.

17
SnowflakeJuice 17 points ago +18 / -1

If he wants to wear a mask, that is his choice. The issue I have is with mandating their use, but people should be free to do what they want

9
Weremoose 9 points ago +15 / -6

0
horseface_aint_black 0 points ago +16 / -16

1
Weremoose 1 point ago +11 / -10

Which is more important, doing nothing to distract others from worshiping God or virtue signaling?

I don't wear masks either. I've even put my job on the line for that conviction. But I'll wear a mask to avoid the possibility of interfering with God's glory.

13
horseface_aint_black 13 points ago +16 / -3

Perpetuating the fear and lies of covid by participating in the propaganda is a grevious sin against my neighbor. Count me out.

7
TwoPlusTwoEqualsFour 7 points ago +7 / -0

I'm with ya.

7
HongKongFluey 7 points ago +9 / -2

Isn’t nit wearing a mask just as much “virtue signaling”? What soy boy even care up with that term and why are we fucking using it??

5
stjimmy92 5 points ago +6 / -1

My take: wearing or not wearing is a neutral act in most cases.

Acting superior because of your choice is virtue signaling. And it comes from people’s tendency (especially on the Left) to have to broadcast how good they are when they do Approved Good Actions. The signaling becomes more important than the action itself.

3
HongKongFluey 3 points ago +5 / -2

Based on your definition of the term it’s definitely not just the left. There’s some weird superiority being expressed about not wearing a mask. Which is totally retarded. How this became a political issue is beyond me but it’s beyond stupid.

This is some truly retarded nihilistic shit. All lives matter is not saying all people are good, honest people who are a net positive on society. Don't be an absolute retard.

All Live Matter is simply stating that life is precious, and all peoples, whether here or across the globe, have certain unalienable rights. We all have them, and our race and religion aren't components to them. Hence, ALL LIVES MATTER.

If you actually believe that the phrase all men are created equal is some type of leftist, progressive bullshit than you can fuck off out of here, because we don't need 4chan, muh black pilled morons here.

All peoples are born with certain, unalienable rights granted to us by nature and/or god. The King is no better than the slave and granted no more or less rights. To suggest otherwise is to grant rights simply by the whims of men, in which they're non-binding and can be stripped at any given time.

That is why all men are created equal, and all lives matter.

Go spread your rot somewhere else.

You sound like an absolute retard the way you start off, you realize that right? If you're incapable of actually addressing the argument, then just don't reply and save yourself the embarrassment.

We get it bro, you browse /pol/, watch Fuentes and are super black pilled and shit. You watched Joker and honk, honk. Great. While you jerk off in the bubble of non-reality that you actually think is the real world, the rest of us are going to continue to be productive and fight against the left. Which doesn't include retarded thinking like shitting on the declaration of independence or that there aren't universal truths such as the right to life, liberty and property. You have no purpose here if you think everything is fucked and just want to watch it "burn". That's not the purpose of this place.

So fuck off, because nobody here wants your shit. Nobody here is interested in the black pilled void you peddle as the light. You're the tails to the leftists head on a coin.

People act like saying black lives matter shouldn't be a big deal while completely ignoring how dishonest they are. Imagine the furor if a white football players refuses to suck the dick ... ah I mean bend the knee. His case is reasonable: he's not from the US, and is uncomfortable making any political statements.
