Not suburbs. Very much just a wealthy neighborhood right near downtown STL. Their $1.7 M house is only a walkable distance from slums with burned out lots and houses in the sub $50k range. It's gated and streets are private property. I have a feeling the wall around it is about to get bigger, the gates reinforced and a private security company to guard it.

I remember about 15 years ago an architect was murdered by some “underprivileged” thug right in front of his wife and kids on Westminster Pl for his wallet. It happened only a couple blocks away.
