I have a business that puts me in touch and in conversation with a lot of teen girls. My customers would be dancers, gymnasts and girls who participate in theater. While my customers do not exhibit what we see in this article I occasionally have an older or younger sister in the store that I am told is a "he." I also have an employee with a son that is changing to a woman.
From my experience with her and with her mother I can say that I believe there is a vast difference between her and just about everyone else I have experienced. I believe that the actual problem of gender is rare, it is real and it is very hard to live through. I feel like all others I have met are confused about their sexuality and have found a place to fall back on when they don't know where they belong socially.
My employee who has started a social group for young adults who are trans would probably agree as she has witnessed a vast difference between those who are in that group.
I agree. From the experience I have had with my employee's child I am convinced that she is becoming what she was meant to be. I have not met anyone else through all of this that I felt the same way about. She got a job in the same shopping center my store is in and sometimes comes to work with mom and hangs in the back before she has to go to work. I honestly have gotten to know her well enough to know this is something really correct in her case. Other people I have encountered are just sad and disturbing.
