“We cannot let one senseless act by one individual derail that dream, that vision that we have as a city.”

But we should riot and defund all police when one black career criminal drug addict gets killed in a struggle with police...

Well, there's no doubt in my mind that the issue with Floyd was wrong on both sides. I'm even comfortable with saying that because of their position, those who enforce law (police) have the fiduciary responsibility to hold themselves to an even higher standard than general public, which makes his actions even more detestable. But what I can't stand is the "one is bad so they're all bad" attitude that people are having toward the police, while simultaneously saying nonsense statements like the above that excuse malfeasance by their own party.

Nope. Fentanyl Floyd had a responsibilty to not take shitloads of fentanyl and meth if he didn't want to have a heart attack. Not the cops' fault he was a retarded violent junkie.

Maybe you misunderstood my statement, because I don't disagree with anything you just said. 100% true.

The cop was also out of line. He has an unusually lengthy history of complaints against him and had questionable ties to Floyd, and it was at minimum an excessive use of force. I doubt he meant to induce the heart attack, because he probably didn't know what the guy was on, but he was using unnecessary force. The guy had been restrained already and was not an active threat. This can be true without invalidating that Floyd was also a junkie and violent felon who needed to be legally removed from society for a lengthy amount of time.

Hmm... I'm pretty sure it was the drugs that induced the heart attack, not the officer. He was on his way out when he panicked and swallowed the remainder of his drugs.

  1. Gotta be careful with those "history of complaints" claims. If you're a cop working in a hostile neighborhood, people will file complaints about you just because they hate cops, not because you did anything wrong. Not saying the cop is definitely innocent here, but we also can't say he's guilty based on "complaints".

  2. Floyd and Chauvin did work for the same employer, but it's unclear what their personal relationship was. I've had co-workers who I'd see everyday but didn't have any other interaction other than saying hi.

  3. Why was the cop out of line? Floyd allegedly had been violently resisting arrest for many minutes. They finally get him down, and they need to wait for the paramedics they already called. The best thing at that point WITH THE INFORMATION THEY HAD would be to keep him pinned.

Want to bet that hardly any pressure was applied to his neck at all and he died from a drug OD?

I will bet that is the case.

I would bet that too. A person who is screaming that he can't breathe can clearly breathe.

Doesn’t the autopsy more or less say that?

Because in their minds black people are being genocided by cops.

They probably thinks thousands of innocents black people are killed by cops yearly.
