Every race has ingroup preference, on the whole. Experiments on babies have shown this to be true. That's called being human, not racist.

1
thedontaw 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well, maybe it is racist in the sense that it's discriminating by race. But discrimination based on race isn't necessarily a bad thing in and of itself--prejudice is.

As an example: I'm a physician. We calculate the kidney function differently for african americans vs everyone else. That's because there are physiologic differences between races, and it's anti-science to deny that. Another example: given the same BMI (25), african americans have less visceral fat than whites, and asians have the most, which means that the "healthy" BMI targets might be different depending on what race you are. It'd be bad medicine to be blind to race--there are demonstrable differences between races and acknowledging them (racism) is not necessarily a bad thing, but we get into trouble when we conflate racism with prejudice.

Most gays are not born that way.

Society has glorified being gay. Making some people choose being gay.

9
Chinese_spy 9 points ago +11 / -2

Or a male child was sexually molested by a male, altering his normal sexual development. Ask any gay man if he was molested or had an "older boyfriend" (groomer) when young.

(Indeed, there are non-molested homosexuals but, my goodness, there are many who were molested as children.)

I guess you are right. Some are born that way, some choose it and some are abused into it.

There is no "gay gene" and at most it's 25% of cause, but studies show it's from 8-25% that's being liberal with the studies.

Babies are born racist. Whites are the only group that grow out of racism. Experiments prove both my points. That’s why you have so many self hating whites.

The funny thing is that basic genetics disproves the first one. Gay people, for the most part, do not pass on their traits to their offspring because they don't have offspring. It is literally antithetical to natural selection.

Which means that there is no way for it to have been an inherited trait, because if it were it would have been filtered out of humanity by now.

So if it's not inherited, and it's definitely not because it literally can't be, there's only one thing it can be.

Kaarous 7 points ago +9 / -2

Not if it's recessive.

Like red hair? Red hair is being bred out of humanity just over the last two thousand years. At one point half of Europe had red hair, and now it's vanishing.

For a recessive trait to appear in an offspring, both parents would have to have had a copy of the trait. That happens less and less with successive generations, until eventually it vanishes.

Caferrell 6 points ago +8 / -2

Clearly, being gay is mostly learned behavior, not hereditary. If your father is gay......... is he your father? He could be, but homosexual behavior is learned, not hereditary

"Confirmed bachelor" has been a thing since William the Conqueror, is the thing. Historically they didn't really reproduce in numbers sufficient to pass the trait on.

And even if they had, it doesn't explain the sudden outbreak of it in the last half century. Only an artificial trend can do something like that.

I know a gay couple that has a kid, and one of them is the biological father. Egg donor plus surrogate mother gets it done.

Being gay brings you a whole lot of grief from others. I didn't choose to be gay and no one recruited me to be gay. I reject victim status but I have been on the receiving end of a great deal of intolerance my whole life for being gay. In it for the benefits? Surely you jest!

You must not know many gay men, then. I have 30+ gay friends. All of them were born that way with no history of childhood trauma.

65% of them are hard-core conservative.

We need to stop spreading this misinformation and accept all the gays we can get.

Labeling them as inferior or "they must be the product of childhood trauma" is just straight up wrong, and victimizes people who ought not to be victimized.

6
Picador20 6 points ago +7 / -1

Thank you for a sane post. I have always been gay and I have never been abused. I am not a victim and I am not going to make anyone else a victim.

If I could have chosen to be straight, I would have chosen to be straight. Being gay has not brought me happiness or success. But I am honest enough to know what I am and to state what I am. I am gay and I never chose to be gay. I know more about it than you do.

Anytime, 'pede. Keep on keepin' on.

Be proud of who you are, unless you're a straight white man then you're raysis and sexis of course. /s

Anyone that loves America is fine by me.

3
Chinese_spy 3 points ago +3 / -0

Respectfully acknowledge your experience, but mine was quite different: The majority of my gay friends were burdened with childhood trauma.

(Honestly, I do not know why people are so forthcoming with telling me that they were molested/raped when young, but they do.)

2
YoLLamaIsSoFat 2 points ago +2 / -0

Right? America isn't the only country with gay people. There are places where gays are treated despicably and killed, why would anyone choose that when they could just as easily choose to live happily ever after.

Never understood the choice argument.

So who you are physically attracted to makes no difference?

Men who are attracted to other men aren't gay, as long as they don't have sex with them?

1
YoLLamaIsSoFat 1 point ago +1 / -0

All that to say you don't think men who are attracted to other men are gay unless they act on their urges.

I don't agree, as I believe gay/straight is a preference vs an action.

It's just a ridiculous way for people to justify being homophobic. I'm not gay myself but have had MANY gay friends over the years.

I think about it the same way as I think about race, gender, anything like that: Who gives a shit?

2
YoLLamaIsSoFat 2 points ago +2 / -0

Think so too. I don't really give a hoot what anybody else does if it isn't physically hurting me. Lol

Thank you for responding, but I would say that the data disagree with you. Another 'pede sent me an article to "debunk" my claim when the statistics in the study seem to back my statement.

The vast majority of men who identify as homosexual or bisexual (87%) have not had any sexual experiences under the age of 17. Only 13% reported a negative sexual experience prior to age 17 with someone who was 5+ years older.

There's also nothing wrong with a flaming gay man.

There's nothing wrong with the way people are born. There's only something wrong when you choose to do something nefarious with it.

I just can't wrap my head around caring what 2 consenting adults do behind closed doors. Why is it anyone's fucking business?

I hate to break it to you, bud, but you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. You obviously don't have many gay friends or you wouldn't be spouting this nonsense.

You don't know anything about it. Gay is not the same thing as Trans.

Trans people suffer from a severe mental disorder called gender dysmorphia or gender disphoria. You don't know the literature. You don't know the science behind it, so please stop running your mouth about it.

An entire generation told you're born gay but biological sex doesnt exist now.

4
astralentity 4 points ago +7 / -3

Born gay is one thing. Racism is a learned behavior.

You can't change your sexuality on a whim, but you also have two opposing forces on that too. One extreme side says you absolutely have to go through therapy to become straight (which causes a lot of mental issues down the road e.g. depression, suicide), the other extreme side says you can change your sexuality and gender on a whim.

I try not to understand these people anymore. No way in hell God predisposes His children to hate people based on their skin color.

7
CodeMonkey 7 points ago +7 / -0

Born gay is one thing. Racism is a learned behavior.

You got that backwards. Science has never found a "gay gene". There are a handful of genetic markers that might make a person more or less likely to be gay, but environment seems to be the big deciding factor.

On the other hand, racism could be distilled scientifically as in-group preference and pattern recognition. Both of these things are hard wired. In-group preference makes you more likely to help and defend people who look more like you versus those who don't, because that increases your chances of propagating your DNA. Pattern recognition means if you a lot of black dudes being criminals, your brain starts to think of all black dudes as potential criminals. In that sense it is learned, but it's more about empirically observing the real world than about society conditioning you.

2
triggernometry 2 points ago +2 / -0

Ingroup preference has been observed in infants before any inculturation could take place. Humans are extremely visual creatures; by the time you look at a stranger up and down, the reptilian part of your brain, its processes steeped in millions of years of evolution, has already constructed a low-res impression of that person. This primal circuitry has allowed us to make quick life-or-death judgments in order to survive, and they still regulate the higher brain functions in all modern humans. It's incredibly dangerous to pretend that the human brain is just a blank slate waiting to be molded.

1
Caferrell 1 point ago +5 / -4

Most gay men had sexual experiences with men while they were children. That is the problem.

3
TheRealTurdFurgeson 3 points ago +4 / -1

Do you have statistics for that?

Spouting out bloviating nonsense is a thing for the left, not for us educated 'Pedes.

Being gay is not a curse. Most of them are not victims.

1
1
TheRealTurdFurgeson 1 point ago +2 / -1

What this states is that 26% of men who identify as homosexual or bisexual have had "sexual experiences under the age of 17 with someone 5 years+ older than them" and only 50% of those men stated that their sexual experience was negative.

That means that if your statement holds truth, you're claiming that the "majority" of these men constitutes 13%? That doesn't make sense.

You didn't even read your own article.

Gay people were using "born this way" but we are so far beyond that now with it being in the public spotlight for so long. It is now clear to most people what was clear to only a few people 10 years ago. People choose to be gay consciously for popularity or they choose to be gay subconsciously to cope with emotional trauma.

1
astralentity 1 point ago +1 / -0

Neither for me.... I never chose to be gay for "popularity", nor is it a cover for emotional trauma. Just because there are guys who chose to only be with men because it's "vogue", doesn't mean all gay guys do so.

I kinda retroactively figured out that I realized it back in my teenage years, without much exposure to it, even before I first met someone who's gay. I didn't come to terms with it until I was 24.

2
irspow 2 points ago +4 / -2

By that standard, any evil, immoral, antisocial, destructive, or degenerate behavior that people act out can be ‘justified’, condoned, and ‘praised’ by claiming that they were ‘born that way.’ Even worse, it assumes people have no freedom of choice and are creatures of instinct like animals.

This post reminded me of this video by Bret Weinstein interviewing Douglas Murray. The whole thing is good, but you can pick it up at 35:00 for the conversation to talk about having the type of conversation you propose; questioning an argument that doesn’t make sense. At around 38-39 minutes, Murray discusses you can have an argument on POLICY because everything becomes PERSONAL. I just had an epiphany, which is not really a revelation. We often joke that liberalism is a mental disorder. The thing is, the left is fueled and driven by bad psychology. The bad psychology that to ask someone to question their belief systems or to disagree with someone sets off an infantile rage, which is why a lot of good people stand down to the mob. It’s as if our country is throwing a giant tantrum, and conservatives are waiting for the tantrum to blow over. But it won’t. The bratty left needs law and order.

2
King_Boobus_Toobus 2 points ago +2 / -0

I disagree with the being gay is learned theory. I mean someone could in theory make that choice and follow that path, especially if they came from a bad situation that left their psyche in flux. From my experience, with a gay family member, who grew up in a loving household full of happy heterosexual siblings, he was wired for this from birth.

1
KAG4Life2020 1 point ago +1 / -0

Studies of identical twins where one of the twins is gay, the other will be about 50% of the time. This means it's not "genetic" technically. But something could happen in utero which means they were "born that way". Otherwise it could be environmental. Either way, it's not the person's fault.

Alternately, some people choose to "explore" aberrant sexuality for fun/power/popularity/attention. Which is wrong.

No, they don't want you to "do something about it"

They just want you to die.

1
flashersenpai 1 point ago +1 / -0

By the way, if you can both change your sex and "gender" then it is impossible for gay people to be born that way. Trans ideology is homophobic and transition surgeries are progressive conversion therapy.

1

Hint: it’s not supposed to make sense. It is the equivalent of someone screaming nonsense into your face until you give them what they want.
