Quite a few less lethal munitions like beanbag rounds and pepper balls have a substance in them that glows under UV light. If hit directly with a beanbag or with enough shrapnel from a pepper ball, it can get into clothing and be invisible. The suspect is less likely to change clothes and can be identified later using a UV flashlight.
