I’m a former liberal. Card-carrying member of a Native American tribe, full ride to college thanks to affirmative action, and voted for Obama twice. I thought Republicans were all old evil white men (as I’d been taught in college). Then in 2016, I saw Assange post the Podesta emails and I jumped into the research rabbit hole. I’d been planning to vote for Bernie because Hillary made my skin crawl and I’d never seen any of the candidates speak (it was boring so I read headlines on CNN instead). Then I watched the first debate between Trump and Hillary and holy crap, I loved him. He was nothing like the media said. Before 2016, I hadn’t really experienced much racism (besides a local high school hanging a sign for the football team who was playing against us that said “Put them back on the Trail of Tears” but it wasn’t a huge deal). After supporting Trump, I’ve had white liberals call me everything from dirty drunk Indian to my own people call me an apple. I’ve never had anybody from TD be racist to me, and I’ve had amazing conversations and learned so much about so many things.
My advice to you is to stick around and read posts, watch the 2016 debates and the Red Dinner, watch a few rally videos. President Trump isn’t who the media wants you to believe he is. I’d hate that person too. They paint him as a monster. The real President Trump is professional, funny, patriotic, and has tremendous personal integrity and love for the American people.
