I remember back in the early 80's in grammar school going over the American Revolution and one of my favorite teachers stating that the newspapers and pamphlets written then were not "the news" but opinions that were robustly debated. I took that to heart and have always questioned anything in the media.
journalism died a long time ago. do you remember a time when journalists actually did reporting by going to the area where something happened and getting facts on the ground? they used to call it "on scene reporting"
they also used to do things like investigative journalism, where sometimes they'd go undercover to infiltrate a group in order to discover the truth. the only group doing this now is project veritas
the vast majority of legacy media now is just employing glorified bloggers who are perfecting the art of the misleading headline while filling the body of the article with a ton of crap thats only used to fill space between advertisements. people that sit in a room all day and never venture outside of their echo chamber bubble they set up for themselves from the day they graduate college until they inevitably get fired when the layoffs start because of a lack of readership. journalism is dead
Ding ding ding. As long as there is mass media there will be powerful people interested in killing stories. How many stories never saw the light of day in the last 100 years?
The whole Stalin thing and the cozying up to the USSR was a big fucking deal. I recently watched a 1944 Hollywood movie and the portrayal of the Soviets was as comrades to the US. A little backwards, but absolutely a fellow traveler. @ this point I'm not convinced that Hitler and his minions were worse. They were both SOBs that many people adored. Hirohito and Mao are in a similar category. What if Britain, France, and the USA just said fuck it and let the assholes go at it. Kind of like Sweden.
Remember when Vice used to send people into really dangerous areas to get some of the best War / Conflict zone coverage in history? Their pieces on Ukraine, ISIS, or even older ones like The Cannibal Warlords of Liberia are well composed and fascinating reports where the reporters get shot at, threatened, and swarmed by angry mobs.
Is this article about the very recent, giant flub that the New York Times made when they published unverified Intel about Russian soldiers putting bounties on American soldiers heads, you might wonder?
NO!
It is about a local paper in Nashville, TN that ran an anti-Muslim ad. The absolute lack of self awareness is INCREDIBLE!!
The death of journalism itself? SIGN ME THE FUCK IN! The profession is due for a hard reset.
'journalism' (it's been dead a long time now in MSM)
The first newspaper in America was a pro-revolution mouthpiece lol

Journalism isn't dead, it's always been dead. Now it can be easily exposed for what it is.
MSM: "Journalism is dead and we killed it."
Urinalism.
Yellow Journalism.
Lasis!
Came to say this. Fuck the MSM. Real journalism is now the purview of the independents. This site is realnews. MSM in ALL forms is fakenews.

100 years ago more people owned newspapers.
Henry Ford ran The Dearborn Independent which was later collected in to The International Jew - The World's foremost problem

Comparing evil versus evil is not ethical.
One can only guess if picking a side against hitler was the right move.
Hitler was SOB, however, giving a free pass to Soviets was the real loss. Soviets needed to be dismantled after WW2, by force, if necessary.
Newsmen are just narrative presenters

Now it's just... Vice. Oh how the mighty fall.
Journalists just rephrase whatever the original article said and add their jokes/agenda on top.

It's subliminal.
They want to implant the idea in your mind without looking desperate.
