With all of the riots and insane lefties on the street, I've been wanting to arm myself. Especially since I live in a city that has seen riots in the past and can be considered dangerous in general.
Not entirely sure how online gun purchasing works - can someone point me to a decently-priced site? Or will I have better luck going in-person to a gun store?

I am also a first-timer in the market for home protection, personal carry, and fucking awesomeness. So, I will be buying:
Mossberg Tactical shotgun for home defense. $740 (iirc)
S&W Bodyguard for personal carry. $380
And, I'm still researching AR-15s. $$$ depends on the add-ons.
In every case, I will be buying online and waiting on my doorstep for the package I suppose.

So to give you an idea. I am looking at getting a Mossburg shotgun, the wait for the new this year is 3-6 months for a tactical one. If you are not wanting to mod it, the Maverick 88 is fine and will do the job.
Nothing wrong with the S&W, I am also a huge Ruger fan. EC9S is a great little gun.
Now for the AR. I just ordered the cheapest poverty pony I could get. PSA lower ($200) and BCA upper ($250) After sights (Sig Romo Red Dot) 2 mags and 100 rounds of 5.56, im just under $700 total.

If you wanted to really step up the "fucking awesomeness" of your shotgun, you could get this https://www.mossberg.com/product/590a1-9-shot-spx-50771/ it has the pointy stabby thing on it. Its also a 590A1 so better parts (I have a cheap ass 870 and the thing will fire every time, no really need for high end parts on a pump IMO.)
I will say that I am torn between the 18.5 and 20 barrel. Personally, I like the 20 inch better but its a longer gun for sure.
