I was part of the digg refugees who moved to reddit after the V4 fiasco. Sad to see how far reddit has fallen. The exponential growth of this place is awesome to see. Can't wait to see what happens when other .wins start opening up.

I left Digg during that period as well. People tend to remember the software issues and the front page astroturfing. The real reason Digg died is there had been the illusion of user driven content and the lie was laid bare. The same thing is happening at reddit now. The upvote/downvote system is nothing more than a carnival game - it looks good but it's rigged. There's a hidden control somewhere and it's going to cheat you.

The purity police at reddit have a shrinking population of conservatives to pick on. They are going to start eating their own. Spez has no more control over this mob than a Democrat mayor has over BLM. They will destroy what's left of Reddit, not if but when.

Power users were bad enough, but when the big corporations dominated the front page pretty much overnight is when I bounced. Before that like you said, there was atleast the illusion that a regular joe user could hit the front page.

Damn I miss digg. I still remember the first thing I saw on digg, we helped this chick win a Super Bowl contest.
