You used to be able to see the upvote/downvote ratio of every post on reddit, and I've watched over the years as pro free-speech sentiments went from overwhelmingly positive scores to barely outnumbering the downvotes. It was a sickening phenomenon to witness in a community where you thought you were in good company.
