It takes a lot of courage to do something like that, especially with girls of that age who can be very cliquey. You can tell that her parents will have her back when the inevitable leftist backlash happens. Even though it will impact the parent's lives as well.

So many parents just see their kids as some kind of inconvenience, ready to abandon as soon as they are called on to do more than just whimper an apology or shout at someone.

THIS. I see it all the time. I love me some Michael Youssef, based gospel merchant. Even if you aren't a believer you should listen to some of his stuff. He has amazing insight into the gospel as he has the full knowledge of middle eastern culture and can go into great detail about what passages actually mean, relative to the time they were written. His overview of the prodigal son story is really good. LTW is also a top rated charity and they do a lot of outreach to spread the gospel in the middle east, where it is banned in many places. Even if you are not a believer, you can't argue with converting Muslims to an actual religion of peace!
