Shillpiro is nothing more than a talking head who got a following because of his "genius" ability to take down the arguments of 20 year old college students. Sowell is the ideal version of an academic and has been pushing out evidence-backed papers and books for the better part of 50 years to help solve and understand core economic/socioeconomic issues, against a wide array of criticism/pushback. The man is one of this country's finest while Benji is a "young" neocon flash in the pan social media goon.

MR_FROG_TRUMP 1 point ago +1 / -0

"The Vision of the Anointed" is another great one.

8
Italians_Invented_2A 8 points ago +8 / -0

To give some context:

Sowell economics is greatly inspired by others such as Milton Friedman and, especially, Friedrich Hayek.

Hayek is the man who first explained in details why and how capitalism and freedom are intrinsically connected.

Sowell great advantage is that he's able to explain the concepts in simpler terms, so he's, say, more "accessible".

All of the aforementioned economists obviously derive from the classic, Smith and Bastiat.

6
LadyWhoLovesTrump 6 points ago +6 / -0

From a person who is not well versed in economic theory, thank you. I was a raging liberal in my day and did not study anything useful in college. I'm trying to make up for that now!

6
Italians_Invented_2A 6 points ago +6 / -0

You're welcome.

I also recommend:

Economics in One Lesson - Hazlitt

It's a very easy to read and entertaining book. It debunks common economic myths so it gives a good number of small dose redpills.

5
ClownTamer 5 points ago +5 / -0

That’s a pretty good take on him. I don’t outright dislike Ben, but it is pretty obvious that he almost exclusively takes on weak caricatures of his ideological opponents. He’s almost as dogmatic as them too, just in different directions. You might even call him a child abuser at this point.

“What, you’re 19 and you believe this? You are an idiot and wrong and I am right.” That’s most of his ‘debates’ and talks.

I will say about Sowell though that he’s at times guilty of the same things he accuses others of, but if others do it 99% of the time, he does it maybe 1% of the time.

3
MuadDon 3 points ago +3 / -0

I can agree with that, no one is perfect. I almost feel bad being as blunt as I was about Shapiro, but consistently he has really bad takes that lead me to believe fundamentally he doesn't understand MAGA. That's fine during 2016, it caught many people off guard and others blossomed after a self-realization. That said, his bad takes stretch to the present day. There are many other popular conservatives rising or that have risen in the past few years; their bad/wrong takes are almost always because the info is wrong or incomplete, not because they fundamentally misunderstand Trump and MAGA. Shapiro doesn't understand MAGA and probably considers T_D a place of hate.

2
ClownTamer 2 points ago +2 / -0

Part of his angle might be that he doesn’t want to ‘side’ with T_D because it would make people discount him because we’re all literally Russian white supremacist Nazi spies around here, kind of like Tim Pool’s reluctance to say he’s a Trump supporter. I just hear what Ben says on many things and he sounds like the nerdy kid in debate class that argued based on technicalities and smiled real smug but missed the larger point and principles of many issues and only talked to retards. I wouldn’t usually consider Ben to be an adult in the room during most discussions, and that’s not because of his age.

I’m all for allies that vote for Trump, but I’m still critical of people, which Shapiro hold up under.

Stefan’s done some super creepy things, and I feel similarly about him, just for very very different reasons. Some of his books ask people to leave their families. He’s said plenty I agree with but he’s super creepy and probably nefarious.

1
MuadDon 1 point ago +1 / -0

I agree with you about Stefan. I personally have never been a fan bc of what you said and the hills he chooses to fight on.

22
KonyHawk_ProSlaver 22 points ago +22 / -0

Ben has actually read every single Thomas Sowell book, so it's no coincidence he sounds like him. I don't think Ben has done any research of his own at a university like Dr. Sowell, though, but at least he continues the arguments that Sowell created.

It's blind hatred from back in 2016 when Shapiro had one of the worst hot takes on Trump possible.

He's come around for the most part but he's stubborn as shit on a few topics, but for some people that's enough to entirely write him off.

I don't get the need for ideological purity. That's what the Left does. Shapiro is 90% on board with Trump, that's more than some of the cucks on Fox News even.

And his wife is a doctor, right?

He was literally a never-Trump'er. And have often criticized Trump strongly since 2016. See for instance this http://archive.li/0tYXD , https://www.dailywire.com/news/shapiro-i-will-never-vote-donald-trump-heres-why-ben-shapiro :

I will never vote for Donald Trump.

Ever.

I will never vote for Donald Trump because I stand with certain principles. I stand with small government and free markets and religious freedom and personal responsibility. Donald Trump stands against all of these things. He stands for Planned Parenthood and trade restrictions and targeting of political enemies and an anti-morality foreign policy and government domination of religion and nastiness toward women and tacit appeals to racism and unbounded personal power. I stand with the Constitution of the United States, and its embedded protection of my God-given rights through governmental checks and balances. Donald Trump does not. I stand with conservatism. Donald Trump stands against it.

I stand with #NeverTrump.

The counterargument to the #NeverTrump movement comes down to two words: Hillary Clinton. Trump will supposedly close the borders (a lie); Hillary will not. Trump will appoint conservative Supreme Court justices (unlikely); Hillary will not. No matter how bad Trump is, the argument goes, conservatives have a duty to back the anti-Hillary.

3
IntrepidBurger 3 points ago +6 / -3

Yes, "was". He has said many times, as recently as this past week, that he is going to vote for Trump.

People change. A good chunk of people in this sub wanted Bernie to win. Hating on others based on purity is a fool's game that goes nowhere.

5
somethinga9230k 5 points ago +5 / -0

Hating? Why would there be anything wrong whatsoever with being skeptical or critical of him? Why do you describe it as "hating"?

And doesn't he continue to vigorously criticize Trump frequently? And how much energy, time and effort does he expend on criticizing Trump relative to the left and others? Has he really changed, or is he just pretending to?

See for instance from December 2018, long after the 2016 election, https://twitter.com/benshapiro/status/1069975237809266689 :

Donald Trump: ....I am a Tariff Man. When people or countries come in to raid the great wealth of our Nation, I want them to pay for the privilege of doing so. It will always be the best way to max out our economic power. We are right now taking in $billions in Tariffs. MAKE AMERICA RICH AGAIN

Ben Shapiro: Tariff Man would be the world’s least successful superhero, with a long record of carnage and stupidity behind him

How is that a sign of genuine change? Why would you in the first place even believe he has changed? Haven't you looked into him before coming with those statements?

3
IntrepidBurger 3 points ago +3 / -0

One comment in a sea of pro-Trump comments doesn't make him anti-Trump. There are a thousand things Ben agrees with Trump on. Ben has his blindspots, like a lot of people. Your example highlights his blind embrace of Libertarian ideology.

3
somethinga9230k 3 points ago +3 / -0

One comment in a sea of pro-Trump comments doesn't make him anti-Trump.

? You are downplaying on purpose. Are you even being sincere? What are your arguments for it being one comment? If it truly is "one comment in a sea of pro-Trump comments", it should be easy for you to find at least 3 pro-Trump comments by Shapiro, right? Are you able to find at least three such comments that are at least as strongly pro-Trump as the comments I sourced is against Trump? The comments I gave examples of in https://thedonald.win/p/GIEfBLrM/x/c/12jwQwwHtG and https://thedonald.win/p/GIEfBLrM/x/c/12jwQy4gHG ?

There are a thousand things Ben agrees with Trump on.

Please give sources and arguments for this claim.

Ben has his blindspots, like a lot of people.

This is downplaying and explaining away.

Your example highlights his blind embrace of Libertarian ideology.

And now you are giving excuses for him, Shapiro knew well at that point in time that Trump was under extreme fire, and yet he was still very/extremely harsh and also blatantly wrong.

Yeah, but has he come around, or is he only pretending? See for instance this comment, https://thedonald.win/p/GIEfBLrM/x/c/12jwQy4gHG , with a statement from him in December 2018, where he knew that Trump was under considerable attack, and yet attacked Trump vigorously (he was also blatantly wrong about that statement). How much effort does he spend on attacking Trump relative to how much effort he spends on attacking the left? Has he really learned, or is he only pretending to?

5

I think if we knew the history we'd find most whypepo's ancestors were slaves. Can I haz my repurrashuns now?

5
leyrta 5 points ago +5 / -0

Also happens that most white people never owned slaves. Most white people whose ancestors date back to slavery more likely had ancestors that were slaves or little better than slaves themselves.

The argument then becomes "well they have benefited from white supremacy" which is rather fucking different than owning slaves and quite a movement of the goalposts

Then you have to ask what "white privilege" they have enjoyed exactly. Not growing up on MLK street? Not having a single welfare mom? I should be punished for that? Did I enjoy that because I'm white? What about the black people or Asian or Hispanics who enjoyed non dysfunctional upbringings?

Then it becomes easily disprovable lies about white people getting advantages such as preferential hiring, that actually black people get.

If actually examined it is just pure racial hatred, that's all.

I'm not sure that any longer we have any such critter? Examples of their continued survival would be appreciated. It seems to me that anyone that could even seriously consider voting for a D now is a LEFTIST, to include so much progressivism that they've lost their damn mind.

And not really because of what ancestors did. My ancestors were abolitionists.

But because of the color of some babies skin being close enough to the color of some of the people's skin from a long time ago.

11
HuggableBear 11 points ago +11 / -0

When you go back 160 years, that's roughly 4-6 generations. That's anywhere from 16-64 ancestors per person.

In my case, it was 26, as best we can tell from the last time we did genealogy research. In that pool of 26 people, there is some variance.

Some were Irish peasants, their ancestors were literal slaves, immigrating to the US in the 1840's, IIRC.

Some were descended from Irish royalty. I am directly descended from Robert the Bruce via a single ancestor we could find. She immigrated from Newfoundland in the 1920's.

Some were English peasants.

Some were German, immigrating to the US in the 1870's.

Some were Irish in Boston, immigration time unknown but living in Boston pre-Civil War.

One was a slaveowner in Georgia with ancestry at least as far back as 1806 (not 100% sure on exact year, but first decade of 19th century).

At least one was a freed slave that escaped North and married into the German immigrant side of the family.

You get the idea.

So, someone tell me: How in the everloving fuck is anyone ever supposed to figure out who owes whom reparations? I, a single person, have abolitionists, union soldiers, confederate soldiers, slaveowners, slaves, Europeans who immigrated after the Civil War, people who were likely here during the Revolution, etc.

Do I owe reparations for having a slaveowner in my ancestry, or am I owed reparations for being the descendant of at least one slave?

Of course, we all know the answer is going to be based on how much melanin is currently in my skin and, more importantly, my income.

It's all bullshit. Don't give an inch.

I'm writing an article about white privilege. I'll be posting here on the Donald once finished. Totally going to cite this. Scott Adams declares that it is child abuse to teach children systemic racism because it stunts a child's growth. It demoralizes them and retards potential growth. Dr. Voddie Bauchum said it unbalances relationships because the white man has to walk on eggshells or else be racist.

3
CuomoisaMassMurderer 3 points ago +3 / -0

No brakes! Godspeed, pede

My .02: you can use the phrase "racial prejudice," but if you're going to use the phrase "white privilege" you can't also use racial prejudice. Pick one or the other. Pretending both exist simultaneously is double jeopardy.

You may be able to surpass that thought, but I look forward to reading what you come up with ...

2
TruthVelocity 2 points ago +2 / -0

I feel as though I have to attack the term itself. Many will see racial prejudice and just write it off. I'll definitely lead to that, stating it is racial prejudice, but attacking the white privilege sacred cow leads to more triggered leftist bigots.

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is so true across the board! We cannot let the left control the language. What they do with it is truly Orwellian.

My last College course was in 1990 or 1991. 1 Prof, in public speaking, got me so fed up with the bs I thanked her as she was being a total asshole. I realized having their degree would be a badge of shame. 30 years ago! I can't even imagine the nonsensical minefield you have to navigate now ... hopefully you will be judged on the content of your character rather than the color of your skin

3
TruthVelocity 3 points ago +3 / -0

Judging by the content of someone's character is now racist. MLK was a white supremacist.

3
Italians_Invented_2A 3 points ago +3 / -0

It is child abuse. It instills a sense of guilt into the most vulnerable. Guilt can destroy a person, it's probably the most destructive feeling.

3
Italians_Invented_2A 3 points ago +3 / -0

Please discuss the power of the word.

The word "privilege" means that white people don't deserve what they have, don't deserve what they worked for. If it's a "privilege", it's inevitable that it must be taken away.

They are normalizing hatred towards white people and creating the moral justification for seizing our property.

3
TruthVelocity 3 points ago +3 / -0

Thank you! Definitely going to mention this!

Also, white privilege is anti Christian. The sins of the father is a false idea, debunked by Christianity, not so with with the Marxist's. Also, it is a 'sin' that Christ cannot cover. There is no redemption with white privilege.

2
Italians_Invented_2A 2 points ago +2 / -0

I have my own theory of why so many white people peddle this idea of "white privilege". I'm going to say in few words, let me know if you'd like me to elaborate.

Humans have a natural tendency for guilt, self loathing, and self destruction. A few examples are suicides (which are more than homicides), cigarettes, drugs. Humans feel the need to be submitted.

Christianity tried to liberate humanity from this by establishing that yes, there's a sin that is intrinsic of you. It acknowledges the feelings of guilt and inferiority that humans feel. But immediately provides salvation, saying that the sin has been lifted by Jesus. You can now live in peace.

Libtards are mostly atheists, and this means they lack this reconciliation with their own natural self guilt. Thus, they invented a new original sin: being white. The problem is that there's no redemption or absolution in their sick cult; it's only towards self destruction.

I like his style! He should be required reading, in every school

An American hero!

He always says what I'm thinking subconsciously, but can't figure out how to put into words- and then he says it perfectly!!

Sorry buddy, we've been busy being kidnapped and enslaved by the Arabs for centuries.

Once I get my reparations from the Ottoman Empire, I'll start looking into your case.

This is the line for reparation checks? Any back there from Egypt?

I have been saying this to my friends for five years now and the vast majority of them can't get their head around what the effect of their subservience to the constant criticism of non-Whites against Whites means to children.

It isn't lost on me that the worst of these friends are childless and life and politics is a distracting activity to fill in their lonely existence. They have no skin in the game so they take zero care in formulating their ethos.

3
Frog_Anne 3 points ago +3 / -0

Did you see that post a few days ago about that awful school project in the UK, where they did racial brainwashing and pitted the POCs against the white children, deliberately shaming them. It left the white children in tears and frightened, they didn't even know anything about their own culture to share or celebrate. In the UK, the ancestral home of English, Welsh, Scottish, and Irish! The "project" was imported from the US, where they apparently require it in several schools here. It left me angry for days, how can you do that to innocent children?

True, but that's not their game, their game is dominance and ours is to deny them that.

I thought equality was a given. We have all sorts of games to play that are fun, if we want to do this. I don't see anybody having fun ...

Anybody that can have fun while underwater for over 3 minutes, tied up in a straight jacket, upside down ...

He might be ready for the bs our society is currently subjected to

"of what their ancestors did centuries ago"

Not even that is true. The ancestors of most white people were dirt poor and owned almost nothing, let alone other people. Our ancestors were oppressed by the same elites oppressing the blacks.

It can’t be psychologically healthy for black children. Imagine being told your entire life that cops were all out to kill you for your skin color.

1
Oleander 1 point ago +1 / -0

The constant shaming isn't healthy for the whites either, children are innocent and have malleable minds... they are vulnerable to these attacks on our culture.

Sliced_Beef_Brisket 4 points ago +4 / -0

It's even better than that. For most of us, our ancestors weren't even on the same continent at the time. Our ancestors just happen to resemble the baddies.

4
jbaum517 4 points ago +4 / -0

Well yeah... that's the point. They want to destroy the society

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

You have clarity. We have the greatest society, civilization, and Nation that's ever existed. If all of us who realize this are ready to pay the ultimate sacrifice for its continued existence, no force on earth can challenge us.

I'll go first. Too much has been sacrificed for what little freedom we have left to just watch the rest quietly slip away ...

We could have a great theological discussion on this concept of "born a sinner because of your ancestors." If we got a separate .win for Spiritual matters (either dedicated Christian or not) it would be AMAZING!! So many mature Christians here

People telling me that won't be happy with my response. If we don't stop this bs it may come to that, or something similar enough; the house to house, outnumbering us there. We win the grimmest of victories that way.

Good God, this man just provided a truth bomb from orbit. Mr. Sowell could arguably be an Enlightenment level philosopher.

3
diCenturion 3 points ago +3 / -0

I love Sowell. Such wisdom. Just came across a friend’s post about their newborn son with the caption “you will be better” in light of this whole BLM thing. Reading this saddened me. It is too much for an innocent child to bear and wrongfully so!

"Each new generation born is in effect an invasion of civilization by little barbarians, who must be civilized before it is too late." - Thomas Sowell

3
scottbomb 3 points ago +3 / -0

Ah, but it's the parents (or peers?) who pass on those grievances, like a spreading cancer. There is no malice in the heart of a baby.

Then again, Mr. Sowell's statement probably applies to most or all of human history.

Happy birthday, Dr. Sowell. And thank you.

I just ordered his book! Released today. https://www.amazon.com/Charter-Schools-Enemies-Thomas-Sowell/dp/1541675134

Aroid 3 points ago +3 / -0

It all boils down to black racism. And yes, blacks are by nature more racist than whites.

1
Oleander 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's an issue with the culture, they are taught that they are victims and oppressed by white people. You are bombarded by it constantly, and I do mean constantly, by the media. I can't get away from it. I live with Democrats. They are flooding that message in every program they watch. Imagine growing up hearing that as a black person? The innocent will believe what they're told.

The key to solving this problem is to push back against the victim mindset in their communities. They need strong leaders and role models that tell them they are not victims. More functional families, as well.

1
Aroid 1 point ago +1 / -0

They're innately more racist. It's the same story in Africa. The black Africans have an immense hatred of white Africans. They have killed tens of thousands of white Africans.

https://americanfreepress.net/70000-whites-murdered-in-modern-south-africa-obamas-african-legacy/

1
Oleander 1 point ago +1 / -0

I agree with you that they are more racist, I think the question is more of what the cause of it is. I can't deny the possibility that it might be innate, some people being more tribalistic by nature isn't a far fetched theory.

In Africa it looks like the same shit where a lot of them blamed the white people there for their problems. Could be innate hatred, could be envy, could be a mixture of things. It's definitely a problem either way.

3
McCarthyhadapoint 3 points ago +3 / -0

There are types of hatred that don't need to be taught. I believe that the human heart is sinful, and everyone can be tempted by impulses. However, the kind of hatred that allows one human being to continually see another, innocent human being as an enemy is an induced hatred. It is a continual giving over to what was once an impulse, until it has become the center of that person's thinking. It goes far beyond the benefit of the doubt. It's pure evil. Sometimes, it appears sweet on the outside, but it's vile and rotten all the way down.

3
Win4Don 3 points ago +3 / -0

How many white people's ancestors were even here during slavery? I have know idea where mine came from or when they got here and frankly don't care. Insane logic but that's the left anything to gin up support. BLM is freaking marxists duping all these idiots. Shit's gonna hit the fan when BLM gets exposed with their financials or worse when they murder some folks. It's gonna happen just a matter of time.

3
ssdj 3 points ago +3 / -0

Slut shaming was banned by the left. Lack of shame creates an excess of shame that must be redirected elsewhere.

3
CovingtonRedpill 3 points ago +3 / -0

I've never seen blatant racism till I seen it in action from none other than those claiming to be anti racist. Isn't that ironic?

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

Now do antifa.

3
incogneato 3 points ago +3 / -0

There is a famous quote that reads, "The sins of the fathers shall not be visited upon the children."

That's just another way of saying that you are responsible for what YOU do. Not for what anyone else has done. You don't expect someone else to pay for what another person has done.

Yes, it's from the Old Testament. It also became one of the cornerstones of Western Civilization.

Barbarians controlled their populations by holding entire families or whole populations responsible for what one person had done and would either kill them or cause them great suffering as retribution. This is how they ran their world, and it was horrible and led to nothing but centuries of ignorance and pain for the bottom 99%.

Civilized people do not live that way, whether it's one person or a whole group. Civilized people take responsibility for what they themselves do. Civilized people only hold responsible the perpetrator of a crime, not the criminal's entire family or entire group.

You cannot and should not take responsibility for things you did not do. Therefore, you cannot and should not take the punishment and subjugation - and the guilt - on yourself that somebody else deserves.

I will submit that it's the height of arrogance and conceit to think you can, because that is not justice and everybody knows it. That's why it doesn't help. That's why the outrage only gets worse, no matter how long it goes on or how much more intense the kneeling and groveling and apologizing gets.

Because that is not justice.
