Me personally I don't want tk try to prove to a jury I feared for my life enough to open the throttle all the way, without there being bullet holes in my car.
There are several ways to handle that. One is getting the heck out of there may not need to floor it. And you aren't likely to kill anybody anyway. (In a full sized cargo van, I'm much more likely to since there's no hood to hop up on) All these videos, the people hit pop right back up. So life sentence probably isn't a thing. Another is Police have given us some good examples of nudging people, not at all slowly or gently, they're sent flying but hurt less. And they still manage to get out of there. 4 or 5 foot surge, then quick stop, then another surge, avoiding actually running over anybody. Maneuver through the thinnest part of the crowd, not swerving to hit as many as possible. Also not stopped dead helping a shooter get a bead on you. This driver is lucky she was "only" hit in her shoulder, guarantee you that's not what the shooter was aiming for. Another point is if you're going to be a martyr, don't fall to the crowd, inspiring them further.
In my State the requirement is to "be able to articulate that you were in fear for your life or severe bodily injury." In this climate that's a given. 20 people can't be stopped if they're determined, not with a gun or anything else. That's also true when they're 40' from your home. Even with 2 shooters you're in an indefensible position. They've told us they want to not merely kill us, but rape us first and live in our homes after we're dead. And they don't mean they just want to rape your wife.
We should believe them when they tell us what they want to do.
We need to plan and organize. Giving in to the crowd and letting them kill us is not a successful plan.
Why wait for them to shoot? Holding still is the worst possible choice. They can make you have a very bad day without a gun.
