The issue is that there was an entire raft of laws and definitions pressed forward under Obama that basically make discussing this a problem.

The actual armed groups became far more reclusive, as having the FBI infiltrate and forge incidents burned them a couple time too many for "Open Recruiting".

Organized, peaceable, local - all fine. But the mere word 'militia' is pretty much taken as "probable cause" all on its own. So...
Something revolving around a club is something different from a 'militia'.
A random "History Appreciation Society" that happens to enjoy visiting local statues isn't suffering from a couple 'strikes' before they make it to their first statue.
I'm just saying that you want to be very careful even here about discussing precisely what you're doing. You can mean every word in your original post. But if you state it precisely the way you did - you're being watched.
My area is a mostly 'post statue' sort of era, I don't particularly feel like defending Lenin, of Jimi Hendrix. (which is pretty much the whole list.).
But even here, "somehow" people showed up at the Mayor's house to ask a few questions.
The FF used inns and private homes to meet and discuss matters. Don't use social media to organize being the point, meet up eyeball to eyeball, what happens in militia stays in militia.
Communities do need to congeal, yeah, get together and make arrangements to protect your Family and community, Society, your homes and stores. Use church and VFW Lodges and American Legion Posts, use bowling leagues or knitting societies or whatever you got.
I speak with many people in places like kroger and Lowes, for instance.
Don't get on facebook or twitter, even in here... and make plans tho, you will be doxxed and possibly harassed or worse.
This is a real war, the more active you are the closer danger comes. Be careful, use common sense.
Use cutouts and other skillz. For instance, the bass club meets Tuesday mornings, use that newsletter to announce a special meeting of the Bass Club and guests on Thursday at (your Fren's) Barn.
Don't group together in large groups, becomes hard to maintain security. trust no one beyond what they need to know. Try to maintain a public profile which is purely benign, don't advertise or hold fancy functions, don't counter protest and garner publicity. If you monitor an Enemy riot do it stealthily, don't be noticed if possible, don't brandish weapons or attract notice from cops,media, anyone really.
Develop comms, use group texts with codes to instantly alert 'one' group, each person in that group uses another group comm to code another group, and so on. That way if doxxed you may not lead the Enemy to everyone.
Develop comms, bbq at my house for instance might mean come running.
Think stealth, any media which can out you will, and soon enough the Minions will be sent for you, BLM terrorists or klantifas or gangbangers....maybe even cops.
Try to develop squads so you can use fire and movement techniques if it really hits the fan, so you can send a squad to that end of the hood and another to that end. So you can instantly cover more than one threat axis and have a response force.
But do it all stealthily, no social media, eyeball to eyeball, for all organizing. If you then later need to use a coded group comm to alert a team or two okay, do that but all the prep work should be eyeball to eyeball. Only expose yourself when you are Operating, and then only if you cannot remain stealthy.

Yeah that place is strange. When I was there it was SUPER nice community. Extremely friendly. I'm shocked to see BLM protests there actually.
IMHO Whites in a militia are still high monitor targets for feds loyal to DNC ( a LOT of them are not patriots)
If you are a vet try working with allies informally at VFW, American Legion, DAV, etc..,
We also have our neighborhoods grouped up, gear checked, and comms set.
