  • by a small business owner who cannot afford to take even the smallest sales hit (or physical damages)

  • by a huge corporation who views that person's specific job (rightly or wrongly) as interchangeable or redundant (or, if the canceled victim is a PR type who should honestly know enough to stay the fuck off of social media outside of their professional duties)

  • by some management type who was looking for an excuse to kick that person in the first place.

If the person is critical (or even 'critical enough') to a company's operations, there's usually no way they'll get fired unless it's something monumental: say, they were videotaped in the act of raping a cat while reciting passages from Mein Kampf the whole time.
