I just want to take the time to say while i totally get your stance of saying if we take the high road and lose our jobs, secuirty etc whats good is it just to say “well we took the high road at least!”...totally understandable....but i think what some who were mentioning doing the opposite were saying is that God says “what good is it for a man to gain the entire world and lose his soul?”
The meaning of this is this: There is an eternity to be concerned about and what we gain and lose here, while it matters to us while were here, isnt the end all be all of what matters....its to help keep things in perspective of life after this one and the importance of fighting for what is right here, yes, but if we lose, knowing that we still have not lost the one thing and most important thing they cant take away, a relationship with God, through his son Jesus Christ.
I guess I struggle with connecting Gods will in the Old Testament with it's coming through Jesus in the New.
Also the interpretation of the Eastern Orthodox which seems to take up the sword vs Catholic and general Western which now abhor the sword but in the past were very ready and willing to use it.
Totally get it. Lots of people do....I would try to read the whole Bible as God’s story instead of our story...it tends to help with understanding at least for me....also i think the Old Testament served as God’s way of showing humanity what it would take to be with Him via the Jewish law and what would happen to them when they betrayed him....God essentially said if you want to be with a perfect God then here are the rules and you must lead essentially a perfect life and if you dont you must pay for your sins over and over via sacrifice and He KNEW this was impossible due to Sin and he knew the sacrifice of sheep was insufficient to pay for Sin but it was done to show us why we needed a Savior, why we need Him. So in light of that, Jesus comes and does what we cant do (lives a sinless life) and pays for our Sins on the Cross (so we dont have to pay) and rose again (so that we may rise again) and and thus God has provided a path to him once more...a path that no longer requires perfection only repentance and acceptance that there is nothing we can do to get to Him on our own only believing that He can save us.
Jesus: If you know me you also know the father
You: I’m going with Alinsky, baby!!! Hey-OOOOOO!!!!
Up top! YEAH BABY!
And if I am offended by the term trailer trash? Is this 'bearing false witness'?

Thanks for the good write-up.
