There will not be a vaccine soon. Furthermore, a vaccine is not necessary.
The numbers clearly show that while the virus can spread it is less virulent. This often happens in warmer months. But it also indicative of a virus that has nearly run its course. I'm only looking at numbers. Perhaps some doctors can chime in.
I have extensive data for a single state and although there has been a recent swale of cases, the rise in hospitalizations is miniscule and hardly proportional. i.e. We are testing a bunch more. But the percent positives for these extraordinary test numbers is now back under 5%. CDC's goal was 10%. (Louisiana data)
The absolute best course of action would be to take no precautions whatsoever with young people. Allow sports and campus bars to expedite herd immunity.
The virus is now making its last stand and is killing itself. This coincides w/ herd immunity.
Heard Faulci say he wants 75% of the people get vaccines (which we don't have ) to have a 75% effectiveness before he's happy. The follow up question is 'is that enough to establish herd immunity?' His response?? No.
Fuck outta here with this BS narrative
There is no current research into a MERS vaccine. Reason: Can't get enough virus samples for vaccine research. It simply disappeared.
Its only a health crisis because impeachment failed.
I don't disagree. I would like to hear your thoughts about how/why this is being used, and how do you factor in all of the other countries dealing with it too.
Its simple for me. Had impeachment worked, COVID would have gone the way of H1N1. H1N1 pandemic occurred in 09-10 and 60,000,000 million Americans were infected. Nothing closed, was not covered relentlessly, barely a mention, but the anointed one was in the White House.
Yeah, anyone who thinks the Dems won't milk this for all it's worth is grossly mistaken. They always do. It's expected.
But I meant 'how' they will. Like, as many say, use it to keep Biden from having to debate, or using it to encourage vote by mail aka fraud. Do you see other ways? But more specifically, how do you explain other countries viewing it as a health crisis?
Their candidate is a ZERO, who has only lived off the tax payer for his entire life. So yes they will bilk it for all they can.
As far as other countries, most do not have the equivalent of a second amendment and most have much more compliant populations. Those countries are also globalist and in many cases proponents of or willing participants in open borders.
The Bill Gates of the world appeal to globalists. So it is in their globalist interest to have this crisis. Did I not hear the UN saying that it is necessary to implement a world government to deal with these crisis? The UN has always been against national soveriengty.
Obviously I won't try to defend Biden.
Okay, let's take China for example. Yes, the citizens there are more compliant. And the government takes Covid-19 even more seriously than we do here in the States. Why do you think that is?
Supply chain. Factories have to keep running. Govt managed economy.
China aspires to world domination and it guides every policy. The misrepresented all info on the virus. Also, China is dead set on changing the narrative and escaping blame.
Clearly COVID is far, far less dangerous that was originally thought.
The best they've done for flu vaccines in the last decade was 60%. The low was 20%. We can't control any flu or the common cold.

Fauci is a fraud.
Viruses always evolve to be less lethal over time because those strains that kill their host do not spread.
This answered the question I was going to ask. Thank you for that - and it makes perfect sense.
I'm glad somebody else was awake in school
Why downvote me? It's an honest question.
How about smallpox, measles and polio? Did those viruses evolve to be less lethal over time?
yes, actually they did
I don't disagree with you, I don't know enough myself. But they still had to be mitigated with vaccines. If it was known, as the person I replied to stated, that "Viruses always evolve to be less lethal over time" then the vaccines we so strongly encourage people to get for these illnesses wouldn't really be necessary, right?
I don't like the phrase herd immunity as it really is only used in terms of vaccination levels, with COVID it instead means let everyone get it. Even then we have no idea how long immunity even lasts. Actual herd immunity needs to have around 70% of people immune, no chance we are anywhere close to that.
Sensible way forward is to protect those most vulnerable and everyone else just get on with their lives, some of which will sick and a small percentage of those will get very sick.
Viruses are part of life, this one isn't anywhere near as deadly as first thought and if China didn;t start with their panicked lock down, I doubt anywhere else would have followed it.
"Sensible way forward is to protect those most vulnerable and everyone else just get on with their lives, some of which will sick and a small percentage of those will get very sick."
EXACTLY! 100% Agree.
BTW, the best statistical example we have seen since Mid March was the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship. With 100% exposure over 14 days, then 14 days in quarantine, 19% of the ships passengers and crew became infected. Only 19%. Of those there were (going from memory) 18 total deaths. The deaths were overwhelmingly elderly w/ underlying health conditions.
Also, in 09-10, 19% of the population contracted h1n1. Seems like 19% keeps popping up.
A Stanford Epidemiologist used the DPCS data and age adjusted to predict a very very low mortality rate back in March.
but not the weakest, the looney left
Well Herd Immunity is really the weakening of the virus. We are using the term Herd Immunity incorrectly but its become part of the language. I think that a precise definition relies on vaccinated population.
When we use the term it essentially means that the virus is weakening. Not a medical doctor or have anything to do w/ medicine, only look at the actual data.
Vaccine can't happen or the common cold would've already been cured.
After the spike in deaths, which is almost entirely due to mismanagement and generously attributed deaths to covid, it quickly became nothing to worry about.
The increase in cases is due to increase in testing, and that means even more people have/ had it with no issue. That means the chance of dying to it are small and dropping.
True. The real statistics that matter are the rate of positives among all tests. CDC has established 10% as the threshold to stay under.
Our state had over 1,000 new cases today, on almost 24,000 test. So the positive rate was 4.86%.
The other statistic that matters is the pending cases per day vs. hospitalizations.
If the pending cases is rising while the hospitalizations remains flat or far short of proportional, the disease is dying off.
It's been that way for months now, at least the hospitalizations and deaths.
After the weakest died off, so did the death rates and hospitalizations. Only time we'll see spikes now is if it gets into vulnerable communities again.... which will happen less and less as the rest of us are exposed and fight it off
We haven't cured the common cold, viral pneumonia, seasonal flu... And we've had decades to do it.
Exactly.
I'm starting to see more and more folks at work saying the same things. It's making me happy.
Flattening the curve was somewhat sensible. Voluntary, self limitation, take 2 weeks off work if you can, only essential activities. Everyone who is going to get it will get. But if hospitals were going to get slammed, it would ease the shock.
Forced shutdowns were retarded.
"Forced shutdowns"
Important to note that Forced shutdowns occurred at local and state levels. The feds only issued guidance and information.
The states, I would argue, acted in an unconstitutional manner.
I couldn't agree more.
Ironically, all these riots will probably bring us to herd immunity much more quickly than we might have otherwise. It could end up being a blessing in disguise.
Agree. And being from a college town I say reopen all the campus bars w/o restriction.
Let all the college football players get exposed this summer. Then you are ready for the fall.
The only thing I will disagree with is there won't be a vaccine soon. Whether it's ready or not there's two much money for gates and Foney so they will push it.
The only reason we agreed to the lockdown was to 'flatten the curve' two weeks to allow hospitals to prepare and not be overwhelmed
How many will take it?
I will not. I also never take the flu shot. My parents do take the flu shot.
I'm not anti vax but would not take a new vax.
