After a 14 year journey that consisted of paying various fees at every step of the way, filling application forms, submitting biometrics, having criminal background and medical checks, attending USCIS interviews, submitting originals & photocopies of documents, standing in the line and following all the rules patiently, I finally became a proud US citizen last week. I love this country. My first job in my country of origin paid no salary. Today, American capitalism has allowed our family to be in the top 1% of income after years of working hard and just minding our business. My whole family back in the country of my origin is so supportive and impressed with what a great country America is and how anyone who comes there is given an opportunity to get a better life. I'm a living example of this. I started with nothing back in my home country. I would have been nothing back there. But this country's ideals of preserving life, freedom & letting you pursue what makes you happy gave me a chance.

I want to write more but this is a quick post after I got pissed off finding out that Reddit banned TheDonald. And now I'm noticing that there's a concerted effort by big tech to shutdown Trump and his supporters.

BRING IT ON.

I'm glad I discovered this forum after reddit shutdown The Donald. And I started a Parler account too. I don't need them stupid big tech sites that think they can dictate every facet of my life..

These guys can try hard. I'm hyped up about watching The Meltdown - The Sequel this November with more screaming into the sky.

While living in the US, I have never faced a racist incident from a republican. Infact, my best experiences and friends have been conservatives. All the in-your-face racist and subtle racist comments I've got are while I worked in lefty cities like New York city from people of a particular race who are not white. And you know what? I didn't give a damn... I just ignored it and went on my life instead of being a cry baby about it. I've had and experienced far worse from the country I came from and while I grew up in another monarchy in the Arabian gulf. Grow a thick skin you entitled cry babies.

I bought nice big American flag and a bunch of smaller ones last week for July 4th and will be sticking that nice big American flag some 15 feet high on my home.

I'm tired and sick of these violent intolerant socialist lefty facist racist bigots being allowed to destroy this country and get a free pass from the educational institutions, media institutions and even the governmental institutions. I left my country to esape this crap and these idiots made their way here? What a shame that this great country has to endure! Notice that every blackface controversy in the media is from self righteous white lefty democrat - Governor of Virginia, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Joy Behar. Outside the US? Trudeau. Gimme a break. And Republicans are the racists???? Gimme a break!

Great going man. More power to you.

Sorry but I couldn't wrap my head around "socialist monarchy in the gulf". Monarchy and socialism ... umm ... besides the arabian gulf has no country that is based on socialist principles other than Yemen (kinda was) but it was not a monarchy ... all the monarchies there are feudalistic in essence - KSA, the various constituents of UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, ...

Purely for increasing my knowledge, could you please tell me which country it was that you came from? :) No other reason, just to increase my knowledge of countries in the region.

Grew up in Saudi Arabia initially. Saudi Arabia is a monarchy, with a heavy welfare state, government owned industries and government bureaucracy at every level with some private participation. So that's why I phrased it as a socialist monarchy though there might be better terminologies to convey what kind of an economic system they have.

Thank you for increasing my knowledge. But the stupid fuck that I am, I got another question in my head ... Saudi Arabia doesn't give citizenship to anybody, and correct me if I'm wrong but Saudis are very staunch muslims. So that means you must be a muslim who sees the life in America, with its booze and sex and dancing and music, to be a good thing. How did you manage to get over the islamic value system you grew up in (I'm assuming you are a muslim) that you found the open sex & booze society of US to your liking?

I would consider myself greatly enlightened if I could understand how people who are staunch muslims might be able to look beyond it. I know countless muslims and I find it very hard to convince them ... to consider that there is a remote possibility that maybe there could exist anything good outside and beyond of islam.

I'm an Indian citizen and my dad was an expatriate in Saudi Arabia and I grew up over there till I was 18 while visiting India every year and finally living there after I was 18...so I had a taste of Saudi life and Indian life. I'm not Muslim. I'm a Christian so we essentially had underground churches and ran the risk of jail time and deportation if they caught us with nonislamic literature or having secret gatherings Saudi Arabia does not give citizenship to non-muslims.

I do have an idea on how to appeal to Muslim sensitivities and they are generally won over by setting an example and having an engaging and personal relationship though the deeply dogmatic, less educated won't tend to budge. Noise from Social media outrage makes it even harder. I know many ex-muslims and Muslims who inwardly know that western ideals work better for everyone after having experienced it. They will agree that inspite of how staunch they are as Muslims, western system provide them the freedoms and framework for leading a prosperous life. That's why they all want to leave their Islamic countries and settle down in the west. Then there are stupid European countries who will allow jihadi types to immigrate.

Check out high profile Muslims like Ayan Hirsi Ali, Masjid Nawaz....they essentially became vocal secular leaning Muslims after having bad experiences from the dark side
