Quick! Someone complain that everyone that deserves prison isn't there!
Guess what, folks? Justice in this life doesn't happen. It will ALWAYS be very partial. Expecting it is a surefire way of being miserable. Believe me, I know. As a psychologist, I keep company with a lot of miserable people, and that belief is a commonality. Here's one of the tough things in pursuit of a successful, happy life--simultaneously holding gratitude and happiness for what we've gotten and the successes that are there, meanwhile pursuing a more complete justice and holding the complicit as accountable as is within your power.
The fact that Justice in this life will never be complete is no reason to ignore the clear double standards and do nothing in an attempt to change it. Understanding that it will never be perfect we should at least agitate to move the line of imperfection closer to fair. You can't have a republic with one system of justice for elites and one for commoners.
I guess you didn’t read my entire statement then. or possibly I didn’t say it as clearly as I wanted. I said that the challenge in life is to both appreciate the partial justice that we get AND not ignoring double standards while doing something to try to increase the amount of justice.
