Pride as a deadly sin is when you hold such a high value of yourself that you become your own god and do your own things rather than worshiping the one true God.

I'm pretty sure pride in your hometown football team is okay.

Pride in your country's ideals such as liberty and freedom are also okay so long as you put God's laws first.

That is pride as in lifting yourself above your station / believing or acting like you are better than you are.
