Remove all US investments and business dealings from Hong Kong Trump!!!!!

15
mintscape 15 points ago +15 / -0

Trump and Pompeo have been excellent at handling China, Hong Kong already lost their special status.

That going to happen, Hong Kongs' favored trading status was revoked. Don't know what the hell China is thinking, they used Hong Kong to launder Billions of Dollars

Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam, speaking via video link to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, said the law would fill a "gaping hole" and would not undermine the territory's autonomy or its independent judiciary.

Ah yes, but when America tries to crack down on any rioting/secession it is literally Nazi Germany according to the UN.

Notable quotes:

And Joshua Rosenzweig, head of Amnesty International China, said Beijing's "aim is to govern Hong Kong through fear from this point forward".

China first announced its plan to impose the legislation on the eve of the National People's Congress last month, after nearly a year of protests in the territory that began over a now-withdrawn extradition bill with the mainland.

(Note that coincided with the start of the BLM protests)

The legislation marked "the end of the Hong Kong that the world knew before", he said, adding: "From now on, Hong Kong enters a new era of reign of terror. With sweeping powers and ill-defined law the city will turn into a secret police state."

Why isn't this a bigger deal? This is massive.

And fuck the UK for not being pissed about their deal being broken.

16
brsmith77 16 points ago +16 / -0

We are pissed. Our Foreign Secretary has denounced China and asked for international support to pressure them into backing off. We don't have the financial muscle to do that alone. What else do you expect us to do? nuke Beijing?

Boris has also promised UK citizenship for all HK citizens, literally all 3 million if necessary.

When I had first heard that the other day, I made me proud of Britain.

Seems y'all are clawing your way out of trouble too

A 1/16th inch at a time, and at great cost.

The bit that pisses me off the most about the whole hong kong situation, is that all this shit is exactly what the not-a-bunch-of-retards said would happen when we gave it back.

"Racism! Bigotry! You hate Chinese people!" the left cried.

We should liberate HK by sending in wave after wave of western leftists until the chinese army runs out of bullets.

MAGA_4EVER 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm all for trading protesters. Let's take the Hong Kong protesters in exchange for our lefties. Everyone gets what they want - the left gets Marxism and the Hong Kong people get freedom.

I'm also all for the Hong Kong protesters completely destroying their city before they leave. Here China, you can have it as we found it, Atlas shrugged style.

1
Mr_Pink 1 point ago +1 / -0

Im more for getting rid of leftists and helping the HK citizens keep their home.

Although, 3m trump fans who can take on Chinese police would sort out our voting problems pretty well.

brsmith77 1 point ago +1 / -0

I am a firm believer in being proud of your history but also facing the realities of it. We owe those people, just like we owed the Indians we took in last century.

It seems we have upset Whinnie with our citizenship plan. He is making threats now.

Hilariously, he is accusing us of breaching international law which would be like Trump criticizing Boris's Hair. Going to take 'measures' against us apparently. I think if i was Boris I would be lobbying for international sanctions.

2
MAGA_4EVER 2 points ago +2 / -0

What an interesting point of view.

It's a lot to unpack - to owe someone even though you didn't do anything to them directly.

I'm not sure you should feel guilt for what your ancestors did. But it's a great way to frame the argument that you should take them in as a country.

Especially because they believe in freedom.

1
brsmith77 1 point ago +1 / -0

Perhaps 'Owe' was a poor word choice.

I was talking about 1997 when we gave HK back to China. We left them at the mercy of the Chinese government, and although we got assurances that they would have their freedom respected, such agreements with commies are not worth the paper they are written on.

We should have done better and known China wouldn't adhere to the Basic Law agreement. IMO it is only right that we offer them a way out of their current situation. Abandoning them to their fate does not sit right with me.

nuke Beijing?

Sounds like a plan.

15
CousinCleetus 15 points ago +15 / -0

Add that to the giant stack of treaties they made and promptly broke. Treaty breaking isn’t exactly out of the norm for China.

3

What did anyone expect from asshoe?

2
KingMob 2 points ago +2 / -0

Of coarse they did. Treaty is only good as the power it is written unless it can be backed up with power. Britain stopped being a threat to China the minute it was signed. The US stopped being a threat the minute we lost our manufacturing base. China is on the move and nothing will stop them unless we are willing to fight.

2
mintscape 2 points ago +2 / -0

The US is a huge threat to China, militarily that is obvious and there is no doubt the US would fight because it is a fight for survival.

However, the financial war that is happening now is very serious and the US is winning it.

I've watched China for years, I have also lived there and what Trump is doing is amazing and should have happened years ago.

If you have any questions I will be happy to answer then, as with a lot of things, it is complex but a summary would be Trump isn't fucking around with China, he's going for the throat.

2
rentfREEEE_since2016 2 points ago +2 / -0

saudi news (being threatened by Iran) is a great source for anti - china news, they won't self censor like most news outlets.

1
dumdumexpress 1 point ago +1 / -0

Here's what you do... the West takes the HK citizens and when they're all out, you rubbleize that island. The Chiners get bupkis in terms of pre-existing value. Leveled.

Lol. Did something actually think China would let Hong Kong stay independent? Taiwan is next.

1
clocker23 1 point ago +1 / -0

The UK should simply reclaim HK because China broke the conditions of the HK hand-over treaty.

Free Hong Kong!!

Oh, and: Don't trust China! China is asshoe!!
