The only thing that can be done is what the hippies do with trees. Civil disobedience. Join hands around the statue and refuse to be moved. Be willing to get arrested for your cause. Even a single person chaining themselves to the statue would be enough to stop the removal at least temporarily.
Basically the issue we have on hand is that the left is willing to be loud and create a scene for their causes and the right tends to just want to live their lives. But while we mosey along the left is literally burning down the country all around us.
The people of Columbus really dodged a bullet there. Imagine driving through Columbus and passing the Columbus city hall and right there is a statue of Columbus. Now at last the good people of Columbus will not be reminded of Columbus as they go about their daily lives in Columbus.
