If this is what he posted what excuse does Twitter now have to remove it?

That is prohibited by 18 U.S.C. § 641. https://www.justice.gov/archives/jm/criminal-resource-manual-1663-protection-government-property-protection-public-records-and

Even if it was legally "copyrighted" by someone, does the creator seem like someone that would object to GEOTUS reposting it?

Just had to go and see what they reomoved. So....NYT. Had Twatter remove a picture. Of Trump. With words on it.

I must be a dummy as I wasnt aware one could claim copyright on a picture of someone that isn't you and letters from a language called english arranged into a certain order called words. Its crazy enough that you can trademark words in a certain order. (eg 'just do it')

All potus needs to do is repost the same image (unless the NYT actually took the photo of trump in that pose, with one of their photographers, for use exclusively by their toilet paper) put a different font on it, voila.

If this is what he posted what excuse does Twitter now have to remove it?

The fact that it is exactly, precisely true.

Could it be that picture is from The Apprentice? In which case NBC (or whatever shitty network that show was on) claimed the copyright?

Edit: nevermind it was the failing New York Times

A meme of himself!

The meme creator claims original content, over the original person in the meme, which should have all rights to any posted content, by any creator. holy special olympic mental gymnastics, Twitter.

They claim copyright over Trump himself for his own freakin' photo? Fake News NYT copies and quotes others' crap all the time and so copyright is their excuse?

DMCA is the most abused piece of law. Anyone can claim copyright infringement on anything. You don’t have to prove it, you don’t get a day in court. The piece in question gets immediately removed because the host must comply. If the claim is fought (at the expense of the defendant), and it is found to be false, no damages are granted.

It has been weaponized for quite some time, Just look at YouTube.

DMCA reform needs to be on Trump’s platform. Free expression and free speech.
