All my engineering friends are seeing an uptick in employment opportunity. Recruiters reaching out, interviews etc.

That cheeky GEOTUS bastard has done it gents. Eliminate H1B and guess what, high paying engineering jobs for fucking Americans!!!!

Another bullshit leftist narrative being crushed.

God bless Trump.

I hope this becomes a real wave of opportunity.

I can confirm that it's on the rise. I've been getting a steady increase over the last couple of weeks for technical positions (software engineering, DevOps, SRE, full-stack, the like.) A month ago, only Amazon (AWS) would bother sending unsolicited emails (because even with the IT/tech/dev side, it's a damn boiler room with fairly high turnover).

Note: I'm not looking. My LinkedIn shit specifically says I'm not looking, and I hadn't touched Monster/Indeed/CB/etc in years..

Now it's not as hot and heavy as it was back in January, but it is way more frequent now than in April and May.

Who would have thought that would make a difference!?

Be sure to remind them of the executive order and we need to make sure we lobby the president to extend it after he wins reelection

I’ll personally drive up to DC and kick Kushner in his Kush if he fucks this up for us.

26
PewPew_ThaDuK 26 points ago +29 / -3

It's not kushner deciding things. That's why we need to stay on top of it and lobby for it

Handler what? Lol

16
DrCowboyPresident 16 points ago +19 / -3

Nobody, not even Trump, gets elected without support from the inside in some fashion. It's impossible.

I suspect Kushner is the front for that support. It's true that Trump got in with much less inside support than any other modern President, but it still exists.

Politics and corruption go hand in hand. It's impossible to not play the game in some fashion. Please understand I'm not shitting on Trump at all by saying this. It's just reality.

16
PewPew_ThaDuK 16 points ago +19 / -3

Trump got in with no support, did you miss the attempted coup? Lol

17
DrCowboyPresident 17 points ago +21 / -4

There are multiple factions in the upper crust of the USA. I'm sure you know that. And I'm not talking about parties. I'm talking about money.

He did not get in with zero support from any of these factions.

Maybe I’ve succumb to msm propaganda, if so it’s my bad. Seemed to remember others Here on TD point out him pushing back on these things, but there’s so much propaganda.

Thanks for keeping us honest pede.

2
ADAM_SCHITT 2 points ago +2 / -0

Kushner pushed to keep H1Bs and other visas when Trump did the original immigration stoppage in March or whatever. Trump went along with that until the most recent change.

2
BiscuitsBrown 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't like Kushner's politics either but his role seems to be more of a fixer similar to Roy Cohn

22
mintscape 22 points ago +22 / -0

Not just extended. The whole H1B program needs to be scraped permanently.

14
PewPew_ThaDuK 14 points ago +14 / -0

I agree. It has turned into a replacement mechanism instead of just meeting seasonal needs

62
66_Chevelle_SS 62 points ago +62 / -0

On another note, I live in an upper middle class neighborhood. Many many homes here occupied by foreigners in the tech sector. For Sale and For Rent signs everywhere.

This game doesn’t come without some blowback. It blows If your housing prices drop due to market flooding, but look at the bright side, maybe we get paid more because our human demand increases. However that’s encouraging to hear that anecdote from you pede.

21
Lurking-My-Life-Away 21 points ago +22 / -1

If you are living paycheck to paycheck and barely making ends meet on $150,000 per year then this may be a good thing, especially if they live in apartments right now.

2
cheesecakelove 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep. It’s crazy how many people from India are here on those visas. My apartment complex used to be pretty diverse, but then a major engineering company opened near and then you just see an influx of Indians and Pakistanis.

Don’t get me wrong, they are peaceful and don’t fuck around, but they are def taking jobs at a lower pay than they should and living 3-4 people in a one bed apartment.

52
Constitutionalist_73 52 points ago +52 / -0

H1B visas are a blatant attack on American citizens.

Maybe not as bad as Illegal immigration, but bad enough.

Aren't our representatives supposed to be representing the citizens first and only?

H1B is the single worst thing for high skilled jobs in this country. Not only does it kick Americans to the curb, those that do get hired get suppressed wages. This is why wages are low. This is why there aren't as many jobs or advancement opportunities. Companies like Apple staff their headquarters with more than 2/3 foreigners.

This is how Disney can fire it's entire american IT staff, bring in a bunch of worthless indians for peanuts and force the Americans to train them on the way out. H1B is as important as the wall.

4
AshenDemon 4 points ago +4 / -0

Entirely accurate. All of these big tech companies are just packed with foreign workers that aren't even American citizens. This is what worried me about Trump in the primary when he defended H1B visas, but I think now he understands.

2
flybyninja 2 points ago +2 / -0

He seemed to be pro visa after having a few meeting with big corps and tech companies. But if theyre going to attack him anyway, why court their support?

mintscape 22 points ago +22 / -0

Everyone knew H1Bs are bad news for Americans but both parties were looking after their buddies, Trump is the only president that would do something pro American tech worker like this.

I think this is partly why a lot of Republicans don't have his back, a few of them were crying about this issue, pack of bastards.

There is a hell of a lot of talent in America, the H1B people are mostly shit and the people they hurt the most are STEM graduates looking for their first role.

Just because you didn’t take out $300k In loans to go to a Marxist re-education facility doesn’t mean you aren’t the heart and soul of America doing the tough jobs. And the leftists say there are some jobs Americans won’t do. The wall is taking care of that shit.

6
Thebear390 6 points ago +7 / -1

I work in recruiting, and have done a share of corporate and agency recruiting in different industries. I think it's fair to say that there is a place for H1B visas, and it isnt necessarily bad to be pro H1b. Sometimes there just isn't the homegrown workforce, and you need to look beyond our borders, ultimately driving business growth through bring on enough talent... However, I will say that it has been severely abused to push Americans aside for cheap labor as of late and these are steps to reform. I think Trump understands that you don't just throw the baby out with the bathwater, and knows that there is a need for a healthy balance.

2
deleted 2 points ago +2 / -0
2
flybyninja 2 points ago +2 / -0

H1b was always meant to address short run workforce gaps. That way jobs were filled while citizens were being trained. There is a role for that, but so much abuse has shown corporations and universities can’t be trusted.

Our founding fathers wanted to implement a 20 year plan to abolish slavery...They had to remove those provisions in order for all colonies to be on board.

Some colonies, later to turn into the confederacy wanted/needed cheap forms of labor because that was the only form of industrialization they had managing large crops and fields.

loday Democrats argue for foreign and illegal workers as part of a necessary work force...H1B, DACA, Advocacy of importation of foreigners, policies encouraging Low wage employment

Some habits are hard to kill.
