My mom has dumped hundreds of thousands of dollars into horses over the past 20 years and she's never paid more than a few hundred dollars for one nor has she ever had more than two at a time, but she generally rescues them so they generally come with perpetual health problems... which is extremely common in horses because with horses and most things like colic, they become prone to them once they've happened once or twice and convince happen continuously until they end up killing the horse....
