That's interesting because I'm replacing a GE Cafe I bought 5 years ago at a very expensive price that's developed tons of problems.

It might be a samsung build. They put the GE name on a lot of samsung refrigerators. What's the problem? The GE made GE's usually just have fan problems or control board problems.

Where do I start? Ok, ice/water dispenser paddle switch went bad which wouldn't have been a big deal if you didn't have to completely disassemble the fridge door the unit is mounted in. The freezer door gears in the drawer tracks had to be replaced. The ice dispenser spring behind the metal arm that rotates the auger broke. The icemaker freezes and clogs every single day.

The label on the buttons where you select crush or cubed have completely worn off (not a big deal but shouldn't happen on a $3k fridge). Also, the button you press for cubed ice has completely broken inside its housing so it's just sitting there and if you touch it, it will fall inside the panel. The hinged sealing part of the left door that flips out to give a good seal no longer flips out as it should so we have to manually flip it out ourselves. It's started making a very loud grinding noise when dispensing ice with a good intermittent thud. Recently, it's started humming very loudly when running. I'm afraid the compressor is going out.

That's most of it I can think of right now.

So, you can see why I'm against trusting GE again until they get their act together. Wonder if the Haier buyout will help or hurt. I know they used to be good but I've got nothing good to say about this particular fridge. Looks great and pretty in the store sure, but time has told a different story.

I get it. That’s kinda unusual. It is a real Ge made Ge though. So it’s not a Samsung rebrand.

I usually see only board and fan problems with that one. Like I said, if you held a gun to my head. There’s no brand I can recommend that is good and problem free is the short version. The haier buy out is still in the air to what direction it will take them. So far it’s business as usual so I don’t know. Time will tell.
