Byrd is the ONLY politician to ever give a fuck about Appalachia, klan or not. We were so poor and hungry we didn't care where the jobs came from or what he had done. This was before information was easily obtained ,as it is today, but I can't say I'd care if I did know what he was. Desperate miners & holler kids worshiped him, still do.
