Apparently they took the photo and had copyright claim over it, and apparently they are such dickhead but hurt losers that they feel the need to file a copyright claim over Trump tweeting a picture of himself

Correction: a twitter employee that was instructed to look for these things recognized the photo and made the claim for the NYT. Then informed the NYT about it.

That's a fucking retarded ass rule and needs to be changed imo. Now if they paid Trump to take that pic like people pay models to take pics, then I could understand, but just taking a picture of someone shouldn't give you ownership of their likeness on that image.

The text would count as editorial and this would be protected under parody laws. This was a desperate move but they aren’t able to do this.
