All lefty-run companies (with very few exceptions) are this way. Even Starbucks and Apple will kick your ass to the curb if your actions appear to threaten either the bottom line or public image.
These companies are run by Corporatists. Unlike free-market capitalists, these Corporatists want a type of Socialism hidden behind the mask of a corporation. They seek a vertical monopoly where they aim to control the supply chain and therefore have huge power that goes beyond their industry. Of course they'd kick your ass if you fuck with their bottom line or image; wouldn't a Socialist state do the same?
Precisely why so many Corporatists champion leftist causes. They want the government to seize the means of production because the government works for them. Starting a small business in a competitive industry is the ultimate red pill delivery mechanism.
Indeed. For example, Facebook uses their enormous resources to lobby government to implement online "safety standards" that FB wrote up. These standards are high and would be a huge burden to upstart social media groups, but Facebook is already abiding by these dumbass standards that they want the government to codify into regulations! They want tremendous power, and few have the means or understanding to stand up to them.
Surprisingly .edu is the same way. The administration's first impulse in every scandal is to cover it up. I saw scandals from faculty using federally-funded work study staff to babysit their children at their home to the head of personnel using the campus carpenters to work on his house (new main beam in the foundation).
In the first cast the faculty member paid back the state share of the money but not the federal and they called it even. Cover-up complete.
In the second case they'd started termination on the guy who caught them leaving campus with the laminated beam on a flat-bed. He had slipped photos to a buddy and he leaked them to the press. Cover-up failed.
But they will cover up first every damned time.
Ref: I worked IT on campus some time in the 20th century.
I am a Deloitte alum - they are pretty left at the top - but if you fuck with their money, they will fuck you up.
THIS.

She was probably always crying at work and annoying af. They've probably been looking for a reason to fire her ass without getting sued.
Wonder what area she is in. If I had to guess, 'consulting'.
